We'd also have to beat either Sweden or Switzerland but I agree the draw has really opened up for us. This could be our year.

Don't want to count my chickens as Colombia is a tough match but we'll never have a better run at it.

It has definitely. Not to go all SWFC here but i think we could beat the Swiss or the Swedes by a couple

From what I've seen the Colombia game will be tough but they are beatable. We won't get a better chance.

Not a chance of winning World Cup if we beat Columbia either the swedes or Switzerland will turn us over

I think we get beat Tuesday. If we get through I fancy us against the Swiss or Sweden but don’t we always struggle against Sweden? Awful record against them this century from what I remember.

After that we’d be underdogs against Croatia but it’s winnable.

The odds on us winning all 3? Pretty slim

I'd say all the teams on our side of the draw will be thinking the same. We are probably all fairly evenly matched. Someone who we didn't expect is going to make the final.

I think Switzerland will beat Sweden.

If we beat Colombia we have a great opportunity of progressing to the semis where i reckon it would be Croatia.

What a time to be alive.

Just shows how the stars have faded for old established countries who were traditionally always in the mix. Argentina, Germany, Spain, Portugal all gone. And Italy didn't even qualify.

Would be nice if a team who hadn't won it before managed it. As long as its not Russia, enough corruption went on to actually get the tournament in the first place. Even if they were the best team, I don't think it would be right, given how they "won" host status.

We've beaten Switzerland five out of the last six times we've played them. And drawn the other.
Sweden is usually a struggle but never one sided.
We have excellent chances against either if we come up against them.
I actually rate the Swiss higher. Sweden are well organised but I don't see any real match winners. they could quite easily grind out a win over us though.
Switzerland in Shaqiri and Xhakha (need to check my spelling there) have real talent but they have a lot of days where they don't turn up.
Anyway, I think Colombia have something to say about things first.

I don't know if it is true but I heard on the radio that in competitive games we've only beaten Sweden once since 1920.

Euro 2012 was the first time we'd beaten them at all since 1968 I think.

I don't go for all this stuff about not beating a team since whatever year it was...... it's not that we're playing the same eleven.year after year after year

Not even if it is QPR or bloody Coventry - there I've said it

And it seems that 1968 was a friendly. I had to check it for myself and it isn't good. We have only ever beaten them once in a competitive game and that was in 2012. We've played them nine times in competitive fixtures and only won once.

The other side being if we lose to Columbia plenty will want Southgate gone for what he did for the Belgium match and others will be saying how we'd have done better playing Japan.
