We are now shortly entering the last week of this transfer window , do we think there will be any incomings & do we think there will be any outgoings ? , are there any strong rumours doing the rounds or is it all quiet on the western front ? I would be surprised if there is no activity although we do have a number of players who for what ever reason have not been involved yet & surely will give our squad a totally different look when they come into play , it has the look of an interesting few days , we will see , peoples thoughts please .
Players will come in, I have no doubt about that. It'll be on deadline day, but they will come in. Keeping hold of Helik, Styles and Woodrow is the key, and to be fair, there doesn't appear to be anything to suggest any of those are likely to go out of the door either.
I would be astonished if we don't see any new additions when you look at the bench. It appears that the striker business is all but done and we now just need the visafitnessgate resolving. I think now that Williams and Williams are fit, Moon and Halme available and the pending return of Anderson then the defense probably wont be supplemented. So for me the priority position is midfield. Schopp talks of experience so the ideal signing would be a proven centre mid. If we than add also maybe a loanee then will help the team. I think certainly up until the next window we need to plug some obvious gaps. The most 'Barnsley' thing would be to sign a centre half that we dont need and a striker that we dont want.
It's best if we sign players who are unfit/injured/ineligible/crocked/foreign/visa-less. In the last 5 minutes of the final day. Panic measure. Having already sold our best players for undisclosed pittances to our rivals. Or we could be surprised !!
I know we want an experienced CM, but I can’t see that happening, unless Schopp knows somebody from his old club. My biggest concern is losing Helik, the defence is already shaky enough, I don’t think we can afford to lose him. I’d be less fearful if WBA were keeping clean sheets.
Off topic slightly, but I agree re. midfield. Not that we could have ever afforded Matty James but early evidence suggests he would be a better fit for Schopp's midfield than he was ever going to be in Ismael's.
