Theres some very very interesting stuff on how the US nearly went into Syria over chemical attacks, we were told by rebels etc etc.
Thank god the CIA did proper diligence and found that the chemicals were actually (and could only be) supplied from the..........US!!
This was under Obamas watch...but it was close..... then we had members of the UN coming out and saying there was hardly any evidence at all of the chemicals been reported been used. Yet the the good old U S of A was prepared to go to war over half truths or just made up stuff.

If you think Trump is a war monger then the evidence does not support it.

He's had plenty of chances before and done bugger all (recent e.g. USA drone shot down, Saudi oilfields attacked.)

He wants to retreat from the middle east if he can. Let's face it - it's a large region where male religion obsessed corrupt meglomaniacs hold sway.

The one he got rid of was evil.

And it'll help his chances of a second term.

BTW why does nobody on here go on about e.g. China and Russia in terms of unacceptable activity - in numerous areas both home and abroad?

    It is all short term-ism.

The thing is the USA are massively into renewable energy. All the countries with massive deserts are already building solar panels (the USA more than most), that are far more efficient than the crap that was sold to consumers 10 years ago. Power is a complicated thing & many elderly statesmen are not interested in a legacy. They just want power. At the moment oil is a massive commodity. Hence this kind of ****. Religion has little to do with it, as non of these leaders are remotely religious, other than whipping up their support base, they are power brokers, who use religion as a vehicle. True followers of religion follow the golden rule for one. Not seen that from any of them.

It's really difficult these days to find anyone who *did* support the invasion of Iraq.

You citing the Iranian state as 'the enemy' ignores that history. It's odd because you're now supporting US actions that are a direct result of the previous US actions which you claim you didn't support. Your stance is bit like telling someone not to sail a boat as there's a hole in it, then jumping in to help sail it whilst it's still sinking.

The US wasn't and isn't trying to stop a war, it was demonstrating it's ability to knowingly track down and execute it's top brass. Either way my original point was that history exists due to related events, and you can't just isolate what happened the other day as you're entirely removing all context.

I disagree with you calling Trump a war monger, on every thread you reply to, your always wanting people to justify any claims that you dont agree with, why did trump sack John Bolton, simple, he was hell bent on war with Iran. Trump was'nt, i'm not looking for an all out argument on the Middle East, cos its a shyt hole, Trump is wanting to disengage with, Europe and the Far East, yes pull out, economic sanctions are is strengths and is using them with great effect against Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran. Personally i think Trump is another Nixon, applying the madman theory, a Dominator, i would say, Madman, is summat i agree with, but Warmonger a bit strong.

if Democracy is winning an election when you receive nearly 3 million votes fewer than the ‘loser’ then I suppose you could call it that.

His words do suggest he is a war monger though, making threats of annihilation to anyone he disagrees with. Perhaps war monger is the wrong word but bully certainly fits him. He considers America the world's greatest superpower and invincible and uses that to bully everyone into doing what he wants.

Not sure what you mean with wanting people to justify, I didn't ask anyone to justify their opinion on trump, only to provide any evidence that the people they claim carried out attacks is indeed who did so.

Not much different to our own - democracy only really counts when you get to marginal constituencies.

Ah I see, the bloke leading the burning down of the entrance to the embassy complex whilst screaming at the camera that all the Americans inside are going to die that I watched on the news the other night must have been a CIA plant then. Put there by Trump the Liar just to stir up trouble so that he could justify killing some Iranian general for nowt. I stand corrected, if only I believed everything reported in The Guardian or Socialist Worker.:(

    Yup. Exactly.

Most politicians from all parties, although condemned the strike by Trump, also added that the General killed was basically an evil murderer and is responsible for 1,000s of deaths and also planting IEDs which have killed many including American troops.

No one wants war, and Trump has said that again. But he’s also not going to be bullied either.

If one of our Embassy’s got attacked like the US’s did, I expect a retaliation too.

Which other brighter shining light of democracy that suffers greater scrutiny are you comparing it to?

I'm not comparing it to any other, you said it was a democracy and I disagree because it is a two party system where 60% of the population is disenfranchised with a voting system designed for rural 18th century america. One extreme of politics that currently run the country is where male religion obsessed corrupt meglomaniacs hold sway.

I'm not sure how you define democracy.

In the USA anyone can form a political party, just like in the UK. Plus let's face it we basically have a two party system on these shores.

The Democrats are not by any means religion obsessed. They recently had a woman at their helm (not a male), who as was pointed out won the popular vote at the last election.

Would you call Obama a megalomaniac? He held sway for 8 years up until recently.

How 60% of the population are disenfranchised you will need to explain.

When British servicemen & women start coming home injured or worse in body bags because we were dragged into another US conflict I hope you'll think on how naive that statement is
