Does anyone know somewhere where you can take unused charity sacks? We must get 3 or 4 a week shoved through the letterbox and although I fill them with old clothes when I can, it doesn't amount to anywhere near the number of sacks. I'm loathe to chuck them away because they're obviously for a good cause but I've now accumulated about 60 or 70 of em. I just wondered if anyone knew of somewhere where I could drop them off because they're unused and it seems daft to put them in the bin.
The bin... or fill it with stuff and take it to a different charity. One that doesn't try to guilt you into making a donation which may, or may not, all go to the charity in question.
Problem is there are umpteen charities asking for custom including NSPCC, Sense, Macmillan, Children's Air Ambulance, Coping with Cancer, British Heart Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphona research, Army of Angels, Against Breast Cancer, Just helping Children, BCCA, Cancer Support UK, NECCR, Tree of Hope.and they're just the few I just looked at. Would any charity shop take them or would I need to go to the specific charity, in which case I wouldn't know where they all were.. Scoff's first suggestion (bin) may be the best option but it seems such a waste in this anti-plastic bag era when these are all in pristine condition..
Locally, if you leave them outside empty, they tend to take them back, but unsure if they'd do that in your area. if they've pushed them through your letterbox, I'd simply use them for refuse instead of bin liners which you might buy anyway, so at least some good is coming from it.
Are they actually from the charities, or from "agents" who generally donate a fraction to the charity they claim to be collecting for?
They have the genuine logos for each charity so would assume they're from them. There are some pretty obscure ones I've never heard of. Might start collecting them instead of world cup stickers lol.
Problem with using them as bin liners is that they usually have holes punched in them so are not suitable for pedal bins
