During the week prior to the last game at Derby, striker Kieffer Moore and defender Adam Jackson paid a surprise visit to the Dean Gate Care Home in Mapplewell. They were there to visit a resident, former Barnsley player John McCann. Now aged 84 years old, John played for the Reds berween 1955 and 1959 netting 17 times from his left wing position. He was transferred to Bristol City in his last season for £12k. From Bristol, he moved to Huddersfield Town for two seasons before signing for Derby County in 1962. John went into Deangate on 2012 and stills keeps up with the Reds results. What a nice touch that the boys took time out to visit one of our former players. Shame they couldn't get the right result on the Sunday.!
Remember him playing. Recall a picture of him in,I think, the Daily Sketch showing him heading in a goal with the caption “The McCann can”.
