His Dad being John Moncur, the ex West Ham midfielder. No wonder he "knows best" ;-)

    Re: moncour

Myself and DrZazlos got stranded after the Huddersfield game (we did the walk) half an hour after the game when we were walking around in circles Moncur walked past us in his training gear with a few lads who were not any of our players, so obviously he didn't go back with the team on the bus. Probably nothing, but it's interesting given recent events.

Are you just looking for an argument?

People have posted a fair summary of what it says in The Chronicle.

Yes and people are making out he's acting a spoilt brat which is uncalled for.

He's moved for footballing reasons and everyone agreed to it.

They are entitled to say what they think.

You thought Isgrove was signing for us. And posted what you thought.

Seems it was wrong, but you were entitled to your opinion, however wrong it was.

    Re: moncour

Yes we tried to get Isgrove and it was always going to the end of the window but in the end they wanted him at Saints.

I also said we'd sign 6 players this week which was bang on.

It's unfair to say Moncur is acting a brat when he's made a decision for the best of his career and which the club agrees with.

Like George Williams did who one wanted more money and two wanted to play more games. No one insinuated he was acting a brat.

Hecky reluctantly it seems. Conor could get injured or suspended in coming weeks then he'd be looking at playing. He'd need to offer more to keep that role but if he did he gives the manager a tough choice.

I applaud him for wanting to play but can't shake the phrase " L1 comfort zone" from my thoughts...

    Plobby.
He was given a chance in the cup game !
    He failed to perform.
Having said that , not many did that night.
He's obviously moved for footballing reasons.
Whether or not he returns we shall have to see.
He wasn't getting picked to play for reasons unbeknown to us.
I hope he returns and shows us what he is capable of.

    Re: moncour

So what you're saying is that because he didn't perform in the ONE meaningful match then he's not good enough ? Look at Conor , when he first came in he was given plenty of game time to find his feet at an higher level . I think the loan move is right for both sides especially Moncur because it gives him much needed game time . I'm not sure when Colchester's last game was, but the lad has hardly kicked a ball in anger for 5 months so I cant fault him for wanting out . Do I think he was given enough chances ? absolutely not !

I think what I was trying to say is clear enough in my last post.

Get rid of the spoilt little brat . Demanding game time after only 5 games when the sides been playing well.

His time here is now soured and he won't return

    Re: moncour

A family member had dealings with him when he first signed as he wanted to buy the family members house. Once he(George) had been and looked around, his dad was the one that did all the negotiating and talking. By the sounds of it, his dad has a MASSIVE influence on the decisions he makes.

Nowt wrong with that I suppose, but it does explain the comments in the Chron...

Could understand this if he'd got to January and it wasn't working out and he wanted to get a loan.

But I do agree this is a poor attitude. Hourihane could get injured next week and then all of a sudden he's got a chance to prove himself at championship level. This must have been driven by the player not the club. I can understand a frustration at not starting but at the end of the day he played the year in a relegated club and is behind players who got promoted. To decide after 5 games it's not working out is incredible.

I think this reflects worse on him than it does on us - and whilst I hope it all works out at Peterborough, I'm perhaps gals in hindsight we did ship him put because we can't risk having a disruptive influence around the squad for half a year.

Can't remember the last time we splashed £500k plus on a player that we courted for the best part of a month & then loaned him out after 4 games for the best part of half a season.

    Re: moncour

Having read the Chron - one thing is clear, unless he changes his attitude, he will not kick another ball for BFC. He's only been here for 5 minutes and he (or his Dad) want to dictate how things should be run. We succeeded last season largely because of the togetherness within the squad and staff. If we are to compete in the Champ, a club of our size has to have that togetherness. We cannot afford, nor would Hecky want, disruptive influences in the club -it's a squad game and players who are happy enough to sign lucrative 3 year contracts need to grow up, accept that and buckle down if they want a start in the team.

Club is being run really well.

No one is crying out for Moncur to start, despite big fee.

We are giving him some game time. Moncur is a £0.6 million guy... Connor is a £5million+ guy.
    Cause he's not starting....

I work in Peterborough and a bloke in our office was saying he was in a car half way to Milton Keynes when it diverted to Peterborough.

    Re: moncour

I just can't begin to fathom why you'd look at the run we went on during the second half of last season and then join us not expecting to have to work very hard over a period of a couple of months in order to displace a long serving player. I could understand if he'd excelled when brought on as a sub or if we'd struggled over the first month.

Still, there you go. It's possible that he was told he was Brownhill's replacement and so feels let down (although that seems unlikely to me) Let's hope he's back in January willing to knuckle down and fight for a place.
