As talk Mobile seem totally unable to help, maybe someone on here can offer a simple solution?

Phone is unable to send / receive texts or make calls in Spain. this in spite of having rang to make this facility possible, and having used the online chat facility to say it isn't working.

Is there a setting on the phone that could be barring calls/ texts? Its nothing daft like Flight mode.

    It's a samsung a3

Been on with Talkmobile for an hour with no joy, their best offer was that I should turn my phone off, and let them know when I'd turned it off. !

You do have +44 before your contacts and remove the leading zero.

    example: 07912 123456 should be +44 7912 123456

I can't help but I'd like to know the solution. The husband has had the same problem for years wherever we go abroad. He's on Vodafone but despite many, many calls to them over the past few years and chat discussions etc. plus lots of googling, he's never been able to use his phone abroad. He also has a Samsung I think but I can't remember which one.

Why would anyone want to take a phone on holiday with them.

I go on holiday just to get away from all that and enjoy a stress free time.

I have no problems abroad. Use Vodafone Europe or Vodafone worldwide

He's tried. It's as SuperTyke said below, it won't connect to a network, just constantly displays an error signal.

Are you on a contract with talkmobile or a sim only deal? If it's a sim only deal where you pay a monthly rate you'll need to put credit on the phone before it will allow you to text / call from abroad, as doing this won't be in your monthly allowance.

On Saturday I wanted score updates because I knew I'd have no Internet access.

Other than that, to check that the cat is ok, to check my next-door neighbour is ok after major surgery, and to be available should nothing happen to my Mother in Law who is not in good health.

I've just had a look on talkmobile website and it says if you haven't had your roaming bar removed you're unable to send/receive texts or make phone calls, you've got to contact help team to do it, not sure if that's any help,

I rang them before we came out to have it removed. I also did the online chat help thing today. I think he ran out of ideas.

Funnily enough one random work message has made it through (but I can't reply to it) . None of Saturday's match updates or any of my Birthday messages came thru :-(

Try turning the phone off (completely) and then on again. My phone wouldn't work in France - data Internet etc- until I did.

Has the phone been registered on a Network over there? I've had free roaming with 3 Network but have to register the phone on a network over there to get an active signal. I'm not sure if it's Movistar, that's certainly one of them.
