Reduced to "50%Capactiy" due to Covid. Carnage today. Rammed from opening, cars being turned away. When youve got no where else to go... You all go to the same place.
I'll never shop on Boxing day from principle. Shops should be closed until the 27th, this year more than ever.
Ive been Locke Park today for a good three hours freezing my tits off. My Sheffield bredrin have been telling how joyous it was. I might go Thursday morning. Be quieter by then.
Agree with this. Went out for a walk earlier today and lots of cars out on the roads. The retailers can't wait to re-open but IMO they should all be shut Boxing Day!
Definitely Helen if their staff can't have TWO days off over Christmas its poor, most shops round here were shut but there was a right queue at the bookies.
Can I ask why people despise it so much? I’ve always enjoyed going, there’s literally nothing You can’t get, you can get a nice meal and a few pints and it’s all inside so it’s a all year round place, I really hope our new town lives up to what a think it can be as it’ll be nice for people of Barnsley to spend there money here as opposed to down the road
I went on 22nd. My thoughts were that there was a well-concealed but inescapable air of decay about it. Won't exist in same format in 5 years time. Shops have no stock, lots of de-motivated/disinterested staff, closed off shops, even Debenhams were playing generic lift music cos they hadn't paid the Performing rights bill. Lots of jobs depend on it so sad really. Like any student of kaizen, I blame their system. The retail industry have blamed the internet but I've been shopping with money burning a hole in my pocket on numerous occasions and walked out without spending a dime loads of times. Who's heard those fatal words: We've only got the sizes that are out. Bizarre conversation that day at Carphone Whorehouse in Currys. Waited ten minutes before there was even an Assistant. "I'd like to buy this phone for my Wife, but I'll be honest its £20 cheaper at John Lewis and on Amazon (who'll deliver it to my house for free by 1400 tomorrow). I'd like to give the high street a chance, can you price match? I'll buy it now" answer "No we can't, even if we were allowed to, we don't have it in stock". (why have it on display then) That's another one going to the wall next year then.
Its a giant goldfish bowl. Its designed to trap you in a perpetual cycle of warm misery until you eventually start spending. Set you a challenge. When its reopened properly cafes etc. Go sit in a Coffee shop that you can people watch. see how many times the same people walk past you. Leeds is a lot better for shopping. And Meadowhall should have been built on J37 . . .
