What I remember about Marley is that he was in the treatment room for a long time. He came on at Wembley for a period of game control running down the wing and drawing fouls. If my memory is correct, nothing has changed. He had to dive to get the foul and he wasn’t responsible for our bad defending from the free kick. Looked like their man was holding in the box though.

Well what I remember of Watkins - he was a ******* on the field, a battler, and a reyt handfull for defenders.
    Nowts changed.
A loss to the team when he was allowed to leave for nothing.

Hang on a minute. “Allowed to leave for nothing”? His contract expired. You can’t slam Patrick Cryne for selling players in January 17, while also slamming him for not selling players.

Has game management intelligence that we clearly lack.

I’d have him back in a heartbeat

He's a cheating tw*t but he wasn't responsible for our shambolic lack of defending from the free kick.

Exactly the player we need. I loved Marley, he was a VERY underrated player for us. He could score, assist and play the referee. For some reason though, he never got any recognition.

Much as I cursed him last night, he’d be ideal alongside Woodrow.
    Much too old though......

Spot on, very good player for us, aggressive never say die with no little skill. Could have throttled him last night though.

Great player for us. Ran his blood to water. Wish he was still here.

It must be just me that thought he was an ordinary player that did a job. Nothing to cream ones self over.

File under Scowen, Brownhill too. Underrated squad players that we didn’t miss until they were gone, solid lakers good at doing their jobs with a bit of shithousery.

I thought Gethin Jones and Callum Elder were under rated.

I rated Marley and was gutted when he left. From what I have seen of his career since it may be that the best of his footballing days, if not earnings, have been at Barnsley. I’d have him back tomorrow though.

Which of these three statements are unrelated:

    Leave for nothing.
    Paying comparatively low wages.
    Wouldn’t sign a contract.

    No, you are not alone!

When I used to watch the interviews on ifollow, Johnson himself said he was an average player who would give everything for you, which made him alright in his book.

I also remember Marley being interviewed. I'll admit my first thought was to wonder if he was gay. My second memory though was, when asked if he was going to sign a contract, his immediate, unfiltered reaction was "What here?" combined with a 'are-you-mad' type expression (my interpretation only), before going on to say something like "Yeah, hopefully we can get something done", etc., etc.

Why? Could be worse selling players with 2 years left for peanuts.

Nothing we could have done about Watkins leaving really, plus we got him for nothing and he played a big part in promotion, the jpt win and staying in the championship so we didnt lose out.
