The only outfield player I wouldn’t swap him for is Morris. He could start anywhere in midfield or upfront and improve us.
How can you do that ? Anyway all abput opinions he was steady no more odd glimpses, definitely get in tjis ream but so would Chris Edworth, Maceo Rigters,Paul Gibbs and Lee Crookes
Definitely weren’t lightweight. I get criticising his finishing but he gave every defender a hard game & battled for everything
Great player improving gear on year. Another one targeted by certain sections of the fanbase and as this thread shows they have learnt nothings.
You have just said it with the word " Kid ", he had not fully learnt his trade when he left us , he was not quite the finished article but he had huge potential & was very promising player but you sum a lot of our fans attitude where you expect youngsters to come into the side & be at the top of their game but this rarely happens, patience is the key word & remember he had a bad injury when he was with us which put his development back nearly 12 months . I both hope & think that Jacob goes on to have a great career & I think our club dropped a right clanger when they let him go.
Exactly this. Stoke got an absolute bargain. The boo boys simply weren’t paying attention. There was a stat when he left along the lines of he had the most assists of all ‘young’ players in the entire EFL. Can’t remember the age limit etc but selling him for relative peanuts was madness.
This is the problem when fans slate our current players and say stuff like “they wouldn’t get in a conference team”. The vast majority of our squad can have decent careers. But at the moment they are all far too young and the age mix is ridiculous. We’ve seen players we all dismissed as 20 years at oakwell now at 25/26 doing fairly well.
His finishing wasn’t the greatest by any stretch but he ran his knackers off every game and had a great leap on him. I wish he was still here, that’s for sure. Never forget that winner at Walsall.
I loved his goal at Fulham. It's the only goal ever to take longer to cross the line in real time than it did in slow motion replays.
He’d have got in last season’s team, with the rotating forwards. Never mind this season’s. To be fair he’d have been as good as Brittain on the right at wing back too. He’s just as good a defender, and a damn sight better crosser of a ball and definitely finisher. I’m convinced Callum Brittain will never score for us. And I think he’s one of our better players too, I’m not having a go at Brittain at all. Brown would walk into this team up front, on the right or left, he’d be more competitive in central midfield. I honestly can’t see what you missed when watching him. Finished article? No - he was only 21 or 22 when he left though. But he had more energy than pretty much any player I’ve seen, he never gave any opposition player a second to breathe. His quality improved massively - and as for saying lightweight? That I differ with completely. Maybe when he first came into the team he needed to work on his strength - he was a teenager - but at the end he was amongst our most physical competitors. Never scared to put it about, and he was the best at competing for balls in the air too, by a country mile. He was improving all the time, had become a key player and was sold too early in my view. Stoke would double their money on him if they sold him now - £2million seems to have been the fee and I bet it wasn’t as much as that up front - but they won’t want to sell him.
