I'm very happily married and I love my wife. However, today, having spent 33.33 minutes of my life watching MDs first press conference I can safely say that I've fallen in love again. When I hear football coaches/ managers talk I always like to judge them on whether I'd like to work for them. In this case its a resounding yes. That press conference is the best I've ever seen by an incoming BFC Manager. I know the proof of the pudding will be in the eating but the man seems like an absolute diamond. No ego, bags of humility, strong work ethics, recognises the importance of the club connecting with the community, great sense of humour, guarantees sweat on the shirt, clear vision etc etc...... I'm repeating myself but well done Khaled and the Board for nailing our main target. Before the recruitment process started I dont think Michael Duff was a name on anyones "wanted" list. You've played a blinder. Also good to hear that Michael seems to have already struck up a good bond with Khaled. It might not work out. However, seems like if it doesn't then it won't be for the want of trying. I'm 66 but this appointment is one that fills me with the excitement of being 5 years old again, when my Dad took me to my first game and took a beer crate through the turnstile for me to stand on at the Kop end at the wall at the front behind the goal. The great thing is that believe that Michael Duff will really understand that and be able to relate to it. Come. On. You. Reds.
I have now watched the interview(s) and it seems to me that he is not saying what fans want to hear. He's honestly saying it as he sees it. I'm happier having seen and heard him, and I hope we give him time to be able to see that his efforts have either worked or failed. Which as long as we don't go down, may take a season at least.
I like what I've heard so far, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. That said, I'm happy to give the bloke plenty of time to get things running in his own way. I'm not expecting too much in the short term, I'm a patient old goat and we all know there's plenty to sort out. I'm not in love. Honest.
Listen for a person to only have two clubs in twenty odd years is massive and says a lot about him, now whether he’s successful remains to be seen and will depend on how the reconstituted board back him( with Lee & Conway in the background pulling strings). Dead wood clearance has started a few more to go, hopefully when they start in earnest he can see Benson, Palmer and Vic aren’t good enough the first two no heart or fight Vic just not good enough. We’ll probably see Miller play on pre-season regular taking a shirt of someone who should start.
Couple of things mate. Miller has been released. Conway and Lee don’t have hold of the strings anymore.
Re Benson mate. I agree with most of your sentiment, But there might well be a player in there. Duff seems to know what he's capable of and may be able to bring the best out of him. His confidence I believe got shattered, Especially when he became a target of the fans. I'd hang on to him for a little while longer. Duff's already said shirkers won't be tolerated So I'd leave that with him to decide.
Didn’t realise he’d been released my bad, that’s how disconnected I am from the club, in terms of Conway & Lee not convinced still
Everyone keeps banging on about Palmer, Adeboyejo and Benson. I'm glad they're still here, because the only opinion that matters as to these lads' worth is Michael Duff's.
That’s what’s different, this bloke isn’t like that. It’s a completely different feel. He’s just what we need and at the right time.
