    I used to remember ringing up and hearing about exciting exclusive news from Oakwell, accompanied by a fanfare of music and a drum roll. I was expecting to hear that we'd signed Paul Gascoigne or Peter Shilton. The excitement went on and reached fever pitch, to increase the amount added to my phone bill, before I eventually found out that the groundsman had bought a new lawn mower.
