Watching Villa vs Bolton, grief what a player we had.

We didn't know how lucky we were. He was exceptional by the time he left.

A downward spiral since he left. Hopefully were on the up now though.

I think we are. We are definitely lacking that ball player though. The best ball player we have I think is Fryers, but he needs loads of work. If he's back I'm hoping Stendel can work some magic.

Bolton should be level , they have surprised me how well they are playing, especially Joe Williams , having a good match .

Yes, they will get beaten though I reckon.

I agree with you, but to be honest , they have surprised me , great defending by Chester & a bit of good fortune have stopped Villa from conceding .

Williams getting brilliant reviews this year. Started so well for us, but ran out of steam a bit second half. Not surprising. If we had managed to land him last January that would have have been an incredible steal. Shame. Will go on to be a top end champ player, lower prem player.

Interesting what Peachy said about Fryers. Wonder if he’ll be a Defensive CM when fully fit. Played there for U23s I think I heard.

Up until the sending off against Millwall in the cup I thought he was easily the most consistent player of the season and then after that he was very poor, by the end of the season Gardner was head and shoulders above him.

Called him on here as best player since Redfearn about a fortnight into his first season with us. Could see that early what a talent he was with his goals. Had he stayed a few more seasons he might be my number 1 in my time watching us, not second to the great Redders. He's earning 30k a week whilst his ex is putting it about on Towie. Future HOF entry for sure. Would love to see him back one day even if it's just on the coaching staff.

He left in February to have surgery on a back problem.

I think he must’ve been injured during January & was trying to play through it as he’d gone from our best player up to Christmas to one of our worst during January

Scored about 5 in his first 7 or 8 games didn’t he? He was brilliant. Played on left wing a few times too.

Will he end up in the Prem?

    Genuine question.

First time I’ve agreed with you in ages.

Williams was and will be a far better player than Gardener. Maybe they couldn’t play together but he’ll play more games in the prem than Gardener ever will.

I still think you’re bonkers like.

He will go further than Higgy did. In a dream team though he'd be in the 442 with Hourihane, Glavin and Redders as the best midfielders of the decades they played for us in.

    But But But

Him and his team mates at that time weren't good enough to get promotion in 16/17 season.
Or so some fick foookers on here believe.
    Jeez !!!

    Lest we forget.
    Hecky ........ January 2017.
A team that would have got into the top six at the end of the season - especially if we had added a couple of players.
BUT - a team that was sold from under him in January 2017.
    Sad ......... very sad

Villa fans don't seem to know what they've got...

    https://www.villatalk.com/topic/16032-conor-hourihane/?page=120

Sad thing is he's going to probably struggle on there, underappreciated in an underacheiving team as his wage is so high. Can't see Villa going up or him getting a Premier League move.

Way things were 20 years ago you could have imagined him coming back to us before long at Villa. But no chance of that now given what he's earning.
