No idea what he has done but sounds like a bad injury. Doesn’t look like we will be selling him to Oxford this summer or he will be bolstering our midfield at the start of next season. Hope it’s not as bad as this sounds
I was speaking to an Oxford ST holder earlier this week. He said that Kane did well before his suspension but has done nowt since. I was hoping he would come back a changed player as Mowatt did. I hope the injury is not serious as his league one experienced will be needed next season.
It sounds like in the first half of the season, he played (and did well) as a more attacking midfielder. Then they’ve dropped him back in a more defensive minded role and he’s struggled a bit. I haven’t seen any Oxford matches so I could be totally wrong but that was my take going off their fans’ comments. I still think he’ll be in our midfield next season. Hopefully the injury isn’t as bad as Robinson is making out.
Having read the Oxford forum yesterday, it seems he has been played as a holding midfielder since his suspension. Something that he isn't. That's probably contributed to his dip in form.
I too read the Oxford forum (good site, there's a thread for every player, and some good contributions). Whenever I've read about Kane's time at Oxford on our forum he's been described as owning League 1 and Oxford's player of the season. Seems that's been some what exaggerated. The impression I now have is he played well until he was suspended and then his form dipped. A few Oxford fans have argued that's because he was moved to a more defensive midfield role. However, the most articulate post on the subject argued it wasn't his position that saw his form dip, rather that when he's given time and space his passing is as good as you'll see in that league, but if he's pressed he's not nearly the same player and it appears that a number of League 1 managers worked that out. There's some excellent posts about his value too that I'd recommend reading. https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/herbie-kane.6259/
Not really because he was never ever going to be here next season if he didn't get crocked. The club loaned him out to sell him
They certainly have some decent posters on that forum - or at least in that Thread. Suspect the discussion on value is a bit irrelevant until we know how severe his injury really is - if he could be fit to start next season its probably fair, if he is out until Xmas no one will buy him this window. I would say if we can get 600K for him now our board would snap their hands off
Not read it yet - but that sounds like the Kane I watched for us. Time on the ball, and he’s very good - press him and he struggles. For me, that’s why he struggled in the Championship. If he’s the same in L1, then cleary he still has work to do. The lad might have a future with us, but I don’t see him (yet) as the saviour that some others seem to do.
Still.would have been money to offset against other costs though. Injured he gets paid (and rightly so) but there's no benefit to the club.
Wasn’t arsed about coming and fighting for us in the championship so not really arsed what happens with him next season either way.
