Bairstow has failed twice in successive weekend semi finals. Oh good grief, there goes another one. 81 for 5. What a good decision not going to Headingley today.
Still enough batting to come but woefully short of depth. Lees and, particularly, Leaning have had awful seasons when they should have kicked on.
Re: Not looking good No. Just when you think we are finally doing something in the white ball game the team falls at the last hurdle. Losing in a final is bad enough but losing two semi finals is just careless, especially when we have home advantage AND got Sangakarra out cheaply. Not quite giving up yet, but it will be hard from here. Creeping up towards six runs an over.
Too many underachievers. Hodd gets 96 not out the other day and gets dropped again. Bresnan got some runs but his strikerate to say he'd faced over 80 balls was far too low. Should have been going at run a ball after being in so long and if he had we'd have maybe won.
its a crazy game when you get to a semi and have 2 players like Plunkett and Rashid end up playing for England
Re: its a crazy game when you get to a semi I agree with that but our star names don't always do the business for us do they? It's not fair though when England have dozens of others they could have called on leaving us a full strength squad to pick from
Re: And now Let's try and get a positive out of this, hope it galvanises the squad short term into retaining the title. Could all go tits up long term without Dizzie at the helm. The next appointment is an important one.
He batted well but as the senior batter he could have upped it every so slightly because with a lot of dots singles could have been got simple enough. He was still our best player. The bowlers shouldn't have let them recover from 8-2. As for Gilespie it's a shame he's going as in his five years with us i'd give him something strong like a 6/10 mark.
Promotion to division one then 2 titles and a chance of a 3rd and he gets a 6/10?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's what I was thinking!, might not be a bad thing he's moving on now, maybe get somebody in who can improve our white ball stuff too. He's a hard act to follow though, just hope we make a good choice and its not the same guy who recruits our overseas players!
YCCC are likely to go through a change. It's time to get ruthless I think. It's been same old for the last few years with the same players in white ball cricket. They need to start picking up top players from other countrys instead of the one a season. To leave themselves with the lack of batting they have this seasons not been great. Hodd doesn't really help with the bat. Okay he made one decent score but it's not enough. Apparently they are looking at Ben Duckett. IF hes not going to be with England then that would be a top signing and apparently they are also looking at Borthwick at Duham. Again that would be a nice first class signing, not sure about him in the shorter formats of the game. But for me the one area they've not been great in the last year or two's been the oversea's. Why can't they get in someone that will perform. Williamson for a few week at a time. Or JG's mates in Maxwell and Finch haven't got the mentality to do it. They need the big buss and full stadiums to do anything and it's not like that over here. Maybe in the Big Bash and IPL they are great. How longs Andrew Gale got. Can't be long. Okay some will say hes been their a long time and batted well before. But what about now and the future.
