Hey up. Who you calling Ronnie. Please use his correct title. " His majesty the king" ." Happy birthday sir"
Didn't MR Glavin have a barren start to his career initially, even had the ignominy of being subbed in one game? I'm sure if he'd his time again people would be (initially) on his back just like some of the current squad.......... But I'm so so glad I had the pleasure (and believe me you youngsters who never saw him - you missed something special, really special) of seeing a master footballer at the peak of his powers............ Altogether now: 'People say that football's boring Ronnie Glavin's always scoring........'
He had a turbulent first three months , lots keep saying his first season was poor but that wasn’t so, He had a lot of weight on him ehen he first came and I think it was Lincoln away that he was subbed . He continued to lose weight in forthcoming games and I think it was the Chesterfield game at home he started to show signs of his brilliance and the rest as they say his history Many many happy returns king Ronnie
There is a reason he is so revered by us older fans, not just his scoring prowess but his overall game was a joy to behold.
I find it difficult to write better plaudits for the great man which haven't already been posted. He's simply the best Barnsley player I've ever had the pleasure of watching turn out for our great club. For me, no other player comes close. Happy Birthday Ronnie and a huge Thank You for all the pleasure and utter joy you gave to us mere mortals.
92 goals in five seasons from midfield - plus countless goals created for others. A player all opposition sides were scared of. And the roar of the crowd when he picked up the ball on the edge of our penalty area and drove forward to the opposition penalty area without breaking stride. Goo on Ronnie!
Don’t worry mate, your in the majority. (Like me couldn’t play. Did try, left back. Int dressing room. Happy birthday.
