Tiger Roll has gone off the boil. I've drawn up a short list of 17 horses between 8 and 11 years old carrying no more than 11st 5. 12 are currently in the weights and 5 aren't. I try and get this down to a final six and have E/W bets on them.
remember seeing a horse I was convinced would win the national, needed good ground, back it each way at all prices week before race heavens opened and race run on soft ground, came 4th and I won just over 1500 quid, still convinced it would have won if ground stayed good
https://www.racingpost.com/results/32/aintree/2000-04-08/276313 brave highlander says good in going but was deffo soft side of good, just got up for 4th after getting outpaced ,the horse stayed forever
heres race, Young kenny was top weight they was supposed to take it out but left him in if , he been took out weights would have gone up and mine would have been in weights, still good win but not the 8 grand I was hoping for
Did exactly same with horse called Just so, got beat by Freddie Starr horse. Got told if it rained to back heavy e/w and did most week, came second.
My best National had £20 win on Tiger Roll. Had five of the first seven home and my other Pleasant Company was tanking when it fell three out:
I always try to land an each way double with The Masters winner. Closest I've got is picking Bubba Watson at 50s who won, then my horse finished 4th at 25s. Can't remember Its name. Evan Williams trained it. Finished 4th in consecutive years. Paid about 300 quid, if it had won then I would have dragged about 5k.
Minehoma (sic) was the horse. 16/1. I had a 5er on it. Thought I was a millionaire afterwards. Went straight to Pollyanna and spunked the lot on a Katherine Hamnett shirt.
No, I'll have a look now cos it's doing my nut in. Want to say it was 2013. Cappa Bleu was the horse - 2012. The year of Neptune Collonges.
That’s it, remember being in the pub and everyone taking piss, cos I also drew Just so in sweepstake. I backed it at 80-1 in the week with a fair amount on it. Also remember my now Wife finding out via the pub how much I’d bet on it doing her nut until I told her how much I’d won.
