For 60 minutes tonight we were the better side. We haven't become a bad side overnight. Nor have the players become bad players overnight. Predictably this board is going OTT with negativity on the back of one result. A freak result. Get real for gods sake. We've got a hungry young group of lads who are wearing the shirt with pride. The quality of some of our football tonight was sublime. The quick passing interchanges. Playing some lovely triangles. Two goals of real quality. The doom and gloom on here beggars belief. It's one game. We made mistakes but we're still on an upward curve. Thanks be to the Lord that some of you Negativistas aren't in charge. I do hope that Roberts and Jackson don't read some of the rubbish being spouted about them on here. In adversity we find strength. Surely by now we ought to recognise that one freak game doth not a season make. Tonight we played well for 60 minutes. Not good enough but pretty damned close. I reckon had Marley not been sent off we could have got something from that game. We move on. We go again and I'll bare my big fat arse int chip shop window if we don't come through this with keener resolve and better results. I'm proud of our team. One thing I do think we need is a big target man to supplement the strike force. That would be my priority in January. We'd see a more effective Tom Bradshaw if he had a big lad up top. Stick with 442 but leave some room for variation. Good night.
I don't disagree. Though at the same time we are nearly in Dedember and we haven't won at home since August. It's almost time to get worried.
I must be old as my memory is playing tricks... ....At the start of the season I could have sworn that the BB was pretty much united in the opinion that we had made some decent signings, we had an intelligent young, although experienced manager who would have a learning curve and a very young inexperienced squad. The consensus was that we would probably lose as many if not more matches than we won and the target was a mid table consolidation postition to enable us to build on it in the future i.e. a long term plan. Now we have some posts that make it sound like we are in a relegation dog fight! What has changed?
Do you think Hecky pulled Jackson and Robbo in and told them they played well? Do you think he highlighted to them all the positives in their game and left the negatives out on the field? They let the team down and they'll be told to improve. Its not negative to highlight why we lost the game. Its constructive. You say yourself we were the better team for 60 minutes. I'm pretty damned sure that he gave them a bollocking but also put some balance in the bollocking by being positive re moving on. The bollockings need balance. I'm also pretty damned sure that he took all the negatives into the dressing room but also emphasised the positives. The bollockings need balance. I'm also pretty damned sure that he didn't single just the two of them out. The whole team will have taken it on the chin. Of course it's not negative to highlight why we lost the game. However It's only constructive if the advice is intended to make us better as opposed to just slam dunk bollockings which will have the opposite effect. It's called management.
