    Well hard to know what science that is when our Prime Minister publishes an equation like this

    Except apparently they could only estimate the R within an 80% margin of error yesterday - 0.5 to 0.9 ffs. Germany announce it to 2 decimal places!!

    The covert alert levels are 1-5 so how can the rate of infection + number of infections be between 1 and 5?

    R is more guesswork and prediction than actual fact. Germany are therefore bulls-hitting their “facts” better...

    Epidemiologists stress that estimations of R – which rely on predicting human behaviour as much as the ability of a disease to transmit – are imperfect and are forever being revised.

    Its just absolutel ******** isn't it.

    R = 0.5/0.9 + 219,000.

    So R = 219,000.5

    Even though the scale of R is between 0-5.

    So our Covid Alert Level is currently 219,000.5 out of 5.

    Yep, a formula of formulas that are unclear, and at best some official’s judgement on how people are socially distancing.

    I'm guessing they will use a log scale for the infections either daily or weekly. So 0-10=1, 10-100=2, 100-1000=3, 1000-10000=4.
