I've never understood how anyone ( seen it at work) can hide a parcel but not put a card in informing the customer, unless they mind readers lol.
Should have added to my post that obviously I have note successful deliveries than bad ones. But yes its astonishing isn't it. Also had parcels dropped to the bottom of empty bins and dropped into garden waste too. Sad thing is its probably a minority giving them a bad name. I also hold my hands up and say its job I don't think I would ever want to do.
I've got more hiding places then soft mick but ALWAYS put a note in, usually with a NON smiley face lol.
My daughter ordered two of the same dress but different sizes to try on . A card was put through the door but it had been kicked under the mat somehow. I put the bin down and it got emptied. Next day we found the card. Cue one upset daughter as the dresses weren’t cheap Fair play to the clothes company, she emailed and explained what had happened and that it wasn't the delivery driver's fault and they refunded the money. Now I always check the bins before putting them out.
I used to eat LOADS. And get away with it, more or less. Trouble is mate...when you stop doing the job and still have the appetite.
for us, putting items in a dustbin is a big no-no even if requested by the recipient, we should ignore it, though some don't even though they could get sacked. most other couriers only get paid when delivered which is why i often see them on doorsteps in full public view, i even had a complaint against me for another courier doing this last nov, just dealing with a complaint costs £60-£100 in admin chasing up the complaint and this wasn't even RM! i must say that amazon may also cop some flack on employees t&c but their drivers are superb and blitz RM in technology & performance, though they don't need to also deliver 4/5hrs out in the cold
