But isn't most of them getting out with stupid shots when they are set... A negative? I forced myself to watch it and sadly, despite the score, it's the same nonsense as usual. Edges, slogs, a few clever shots, they get carried away and then they are back in the pavilion. And against a Windies team who only seem to get worse with each mini tour.
Just my opinion. But. I see it totally different. We took the risks at the right time. The score kept ticking over. Going along at 6/7 runs po. And plenty of wickets going into the last 10 overs (110+ runs)
Personally, I just don't get any joy in edges and mishits flying for 4's and 6's. I'd seriously reduce the springiness of bats and the technology in them. A mishit should never be able to go for 6. But hey, I understand its de rigeur for it to be all about results regardless of quality these days, in any sporting aspect and beyond.
Why did you force yourself to watch it. ?. And when was the last time you saw all the top order. Make decent scores. You say quality. But tactically got it right for me today. People want to be entertained and if technology helps that cause. Then all the better for me. I'm guessing you are old school and don't like change. It has to happen or the game dies. I've never played the game. Btw. only at school cos I was crap. So as a spectator only, I welcome the changes teams are prepared to go to. to fill the grounds. I rarely miss a game of limited overs. (Live or TV) But only admittedly if its a team I can attach missen to. Yorks men and ladies. And England. England in test matches.
Nice mismatch series to get Brook going as captain. Windies with a few players still in the IPL, whilst ours come back.
I played. I loved it. Skill, nuance, character. The changes aren’t for the better when large runners of runs are scored through nothing more than an over engineered bat and nothing to do with skill. I posted a few days ago how much sport has lost its lustre. I think cricket is the perhaps the worst in my view. I used to watch it in its entirety but now, it’s just grim. There are so few quality players now. Certainly very very few who had be classed as greats. So I forced myself to watch as it’s been a while since I really tried to get back into it. I didn’t watch the second innings, I won’t be watching any further odi’s.
Staying with Cricket, I could be tempted.... https://barnsleycivic.co.uk/event/an-audience-with-henry-blofeld/
I have no idea how you can watch that team and come to the conclusion you have. There’s not a slogger amongst them just pure cricket shots. Jacob Bethell is an absolute delight to watch. They got the tempo bang on yesterday, 400 without being reckless .
A day at T20 is brill. I do the Roses match home and away every year wi some mates and even stay in Headingley and Manchester to get out for beer and food. The atmosphere is spot on. Also like to watch England and yes it's changed from Sir Geoff's day but all sport moves on, it's not just the bat, the balls are different and the agility of the fielding is magic. Ya just have to go wiith it..
Spectacular catching on show from both sides. Yes it was an easy win in the end but I’ve no complaints. Got sick of watching us lose in different formats, especially overseas. The big crowd at Edgbaston certainly seemed to enjoy it and I’m sure Harry will b satisfied with his batting and five catches
Yet gave catches galore. Against, sadly, a truly woeful Windies team. But anyway, people are entitled to enjoy whatever they enjoy, it's just not for me.
