Depressingly, the current situation takes me back to when I was still at school and Barnsley were languishing in the old 4th Division. I was a regular in the Pontyend/Kop (many us fans used to change ends at half time. A couple of my mates, one who supported Chelsea and the other Arsenal, used to take the p*ss out of me on a regular basis calling me a "Barnsleynil" and "Barnsleylost" supporter respectively. Sadly that seems as appropriate as ever. The standard greeting everytime I saw them after we had played was 'how many did you lose by this time?" It did not help that, soon after we had moved to Barnsley my father had bought a Leeds United season ticket (during the Review 'glory'?? years) having declared after watching Barnsley just the once that they were a "load of rubbish" and used to laugh at me when he got back from our respective fixtures with Leeds having usually won and Barnsley usually losing or drawing.
One thing I think we are sure on is that they certainly won’t be putting money into our club. We don’t know if they want to take money out now or future, but it’s nailed on nothing will come out of their pockets
My thoughts are: 1) Take away the 2 first goals which are errors, by 2 of our better players who haven’t had any errors this season, and the game is 2-2. Which would be fair. Collins & Mowatt. 2) Defensive unit made no major mistakes today. Their 3rd was just through determination and the 4th was a good strike. 3) This still leaves us with a draw which isn’t good enough. The only consolation is that we can score - averaging 2 goals a game, which is decent.
If only we could take away the first two goals. There really is no excuse for the first, it's the first basics of football, kicking the ball, and our keeper (a professional footballer who kicks balls for a living) couldn't do it. **** me sideways!
