Article in today's Guardian about a murder committed in Wakefield in the early sixties. Goes on to talk about another lass murdered in 1965 in the "Beast of Wombwell" case. Goes on about how the main suspect may have committed more rapes and murders and he recently died. I was 15 at the time and living in Wombwell and I have no recollection of the case. I know some of you lot make me look like a spring chicken, so I wondered if anybody else remembers it.
I think someone has their facts a bit confused - Pickering murdered a lass in the hillies in the early 70's - I remember that - he was suspected of the murder of the wakefield lass in 1965 and I think later admitted it - I dont think there was another Wombwell murder though I may be wrong
