World cup next year as well but they have been a bit poor recently

    Edit
Thats the Rugby Union Head Coach for England for those who wondered which club he managed

I think it's a daft move. He'd have had us firing for the World Cup. He isn't a results orientated boss in the games that don't matter. Maybe too laid back for his own good.

Agreed, should have given him the WC and then looked for a long term replacement.

I also see that Wales have sacked Wayne Pivac and gone back to Warren Gatland. Again, given the struggles at Welsh regional level I'm not sure how this move will work out.

Seem a bit keen to pull the trigger. But then again when you're losing so often it makes it harder to sell overpriced £100 plus tickets at Twickenham.

Different sport but poor results going into a major tournament doesn't seem to have done Southgate any harm.

Agreed his tournament record is very good so it seems a bit strange to sack him on the basis of recent less critical games

Id have kept him until after the World cup and then made a decision.
Silly pricing at Twickenham is a different matter though it still sells out. I havent been for a few years coughing up £80 to watch us lose to South Africa not long before Jones was appointed and deciding it was really more than I wanted to pay

Just had a look at pricing - Wales v England at Cardiff starts at £40 England V Scotland at Twickenham starts at £85. The games in France start at €25
    hmm

Well I thought Southampton would have given him a bit longer than that

Some mad comments on here. England have been shocking for a good 2 years now. Awfully coached, crazy selections, tactics that change every week and never work, zero consistency.

He's had back to back 5th place finishes in the 6 Nations despite England probably having their best ever pool of players.

As an Irish fan I'm gutted he's gone.
