yeah no worries. To clarify you think the owners will significantly improve the ground and we will retain all our players. Yup let’s see who is right.
Im sure i said something like that i would be happy if they invested nothing other than keeping the ground safe, retain our contracted players and replaced Poya with Devaney i would be happy with that, not sure what youve read
So we sell / release absolutely no one. And replace Poya with Devaney. Yup still take the bet. What sort of changes are you anticipating to endure the ground is safe? Removing the West Stand or just improving it? What sort of investment are you talking to do that.
I'm at a loss to understand what this thread is about. If we kept the squad from the OP we would be bound to do well. The more decent players we lose, the worse it will get. What happens to the West Stand is no more relevant to team performance than me getting my half time pint. Manager wise, I am well in the minority in not being devastated if Poya was still in charge next season. Admittedly that might be because no one else that this lot in charge might bring in might remotely inspire me. But I think he organises us well. And we'll be crap up front and struggle no matter who's in charge, til we get a proper finisher.
No investment just keep it open, if minor repairs needed to keep it open then im surevthey will put their hands in their pocket My original qyestion wss Does anyone know from watching the under 23s, inside knowledge, press cuttings etc what will Devaney's style of play and preferred formation be
I just asked if anyone new if Devaney was manager what style of football he would play if we kept our in contract players.
yeah no worries. To me opening the west stand means opening it fully but happy to let that slide as I can’t see any situation where we retain every player and make Devaney Head coach.
Every player does a little jig on the spot as soon as they get the ball. Then they kick it past their marker and run after it but the marker turns faster than them, runs after it and secures possession. That's Devaney style. Till you get to Plymouth. Then every player shoots from anywhere and it rockets into the net like the best goal you've ever seen. That's Devaney style 2.0. I haven't heard him on camera yet. If he talks a good game that's usually enough for me.
Should be OK that team in league 1 but we won't keep that team, the owners are going to have to be serious to mount a promotion push and at the moment I've no faith.
Will try and take in a U23s match before the season ends now they're open to the viewing public again. As I say, a lot more attacking than Poya but that's 2 seasons ago!
Lets hope he is, I am a bit concerned that Poya hasnt got a plan b and we dont want to be sat back in league 1 we need to give it a good go next season. We dont want to get stuck in league 1 for long.
Don't forget that the under 23s isn't managed by devaney it's managed by Hassell and Tom harban and it's the same style as the first team. Play it out from the back, don't overly commit etc
Agree that we need a new coach. But I’m not too concerned about instant promotion. I think we’re about to see the start of another team rebuild. So it could take a few years for things to click. If you offered me a top half finish, without needing any loans from the owners, I’d take it.
