Sounds like they asked him to sign another contract with lower wages - he had until 2021 on his contract. This meant he’d get some wages whilst he’s out until next December (14 months out). He’s declined it by the sounds of it, so they’ve done a G-Mis on him. To be fair, the club probably have tried to do fair by him by the sounds of it, but Keogh has declined it. That’s what how I read it anyway..... I can’t see how he can defend the G-Mis, other than the others who were driving got away more with it.
Given it was a club organised event I’m sure he will be seeking legal advice in that he was injured at a works do that ended his career and the people who initiated the damage are employees of his employer.

That sounds like the 'take no responsibility for one's own actions' kind of society we live in these days. So if a regular guy, employed in a regular job, goes on a works do, gets off his face, jumps in a car being driven by a colleague also off his face and ends up in traction and unable to do a stroke of work for a year, it would be the company's fault for organising the do? Yes, the driver should be sacked also, but the guy needs to accept responsibility for his own actions. He's not a child. He's a bloke in his mid 30s who is supposed to be a professional sportsman and was also the captain. The club didn't force him to get off his face and they didn't force him to get in a car being driven by a drunk. I know for sure I wouldn't get in a car I knew was being driven by a drunk. I don't know about suing for unfair dismissal. He should look in the mirror and count his lucky stars he is still alive. It's no wonder the country is messed up. It's always someone else's fault.
Yep Like you said it’s how society is today. But if there is a claim which we may never know if settled privately, won’t be positioned the way you state. It wasn’t an individual, it was several employees. He didn’t crash into himself, in fact wasn’t driving. The club deemed the offence a fine for the others so why has he been treated differently. If Derby organised the event and supplied alcohol then they may be liable. The era we live is unfortunately oriented this way.
I believe all 3 involved were tested for drugs and he was the only one who failed it. Apparently he’s on 26k a week, which just shows what we’re competing against.
Saw the story this morning and the immediate thought was how the hell Lawrence and Bennett got of so lightly in comparison. Then you remember they are both currently playing and potentially worth about £15million combined. Absolutely double standards on the face of it. Maybe Keogh did do something worse which we don't know about, but it looks like a case of hugely privileged young men getting away with being criminally reckless prats and endangering lives because they're worth too much to their clubs. It's a symptom of the way the game is sadly and it filters down to the way top academy players are treated like little Lords who shouldn't be wound up in case they up sticks to sign for the club down the road.
Old guy passenger who can't play for over a year and is out of contract gets sacked. Young lads driving who are still in contract past this season to have a resell value are kept in employment Keogh looks to have a case for unfair dismissal to go for.
Appealed against his dismissal with backing from the PFA. Derby have today refused to over turn the original decision. He's now going to appeal through the EFL . The Club maintain their offer of a shorter contract on less money was fair, given that he can't play due to the injuries incurred in the road accident he was involved in.
