We have been here before. Exactly around the same time of the season. We either just hold our ground, whereby we can achieve mid table obscurity (ie sell 1 or 2) and next season struggle again. Or We can push that one step further and recruit one or 2, and have a real push. Entirely your choice. I will warn you however, that the group of fans you have, have been here before, and expect the worst. So surprise us. I double dare you
we done our bit spending our money, in covid times, these guys are speculators, get speculating and give big Val some ammo for the BFC blunderbuster!
20k a week for three years is just over £3m. Give Mowatt the lot. With the new visa rules British players are at a premium. £3 million quid and you might even get your money back. Sadly I'm not sure even £20k a week will be enough.
Let’s hope they realise that with a bit more pace and quality upfront we could really have a special season but like we all know we’ve been here before more than once in recent years.Let’s see.
We are miles away from being a promotion team. Whether we invest or not, the likelihood is that we will regress to the middle of the pack in the second half of the season. If we get anything against Norwich, then I may be forced to re-evaluate. Get ready for a reality-check.
Just someone who's actually fast and decent enough for this level. I ain't asking for neymar or dembele or anything.
Tough month is January, if we come out of that where we are now, with the squad unweakened, then I think we can rightfully dream of playoffs.
Its about confidence and winning in different way which we have been doing. Freshen it up in January early and momentum could carry us into play off contention with 10 games to go then we have nothing to lose.
I remember posting on here around the time of the 'great fire sale' suggesting we were in an artificially high position, that we could expect a drop in form, and that we weren't really play off contenders. Of course I was a proper party pooper, lacking ambition and an apologist for the board who were about to sell our outside chance down the river (although it should be noted, whilst recruiting Mowatt and James). You're right, we're in a similar position, though I'd argue the squad now is more limited than the one you're referring to. The difference now is that the players that got us here are younger and under contract. There's a more logical and compelling argument to keep them together and see how far they can progress. Mid-table this year would be a great outcome. That was 'the plan' as set out by the owners. Let's see how well we can stick to that in January.
We have just won, enjoy it. have a few beers, if you feel the need to post drivle like this then fair enough. lighten up. My recommendation is Henry Westons
What we need is to extend Matty James’s stay. It isn’t a coincidence that our fortunes have changed since he signed back here. He’s the top of my shopping list and I’m hoping it isn’t the last we have seen of him in a reds shirt.
I am enjoying it. I am having a few beers. But I expect like every other year, we flog our crown jewels when we are in a very good position. If you think that's drivel, and dont want ambition, that's your choice. It ain't mine
Agree, we're somewhere between 8th and 16th, it would need a massive investment (30-40 million) to 'push on'. Not going to happen. Bournemouth, Norwich, Brentford, Watford are streets ahead of us. That said in any given game we have the potential to beat them, but not over an extended period. .
