Hope he's ok. My dad got it young..48. More likely to have been hit by a cricket ball, he was a decent wicket keeper, than heading a football. Awful disease for all concerned.

Feared the worst when I opened this.

Fingers crossed he's OK in the long term.

It can, as someone who had the same issue diagnosed about 18 months ago. Levothyroxine which you take every day for good to replace what your thyroid should produce. It can take a long time to get the balance of meds right (my levels still aren't right 18 months later).

But I can confirm its very worrying and troubling. My first thought was something pretty sinister. Short term memory is affected, speed of thought, forgetting words, simple things just not coming to you, repeating words in the same sentence, balance, focus, concentration, increased anger and mood swings, the speed you can track moving images, weight, your skin. It's really pretty horrible.

I'm glad they've diagnosed it for him and I hope he gets on the right levels as soon as possible.

    Did they find one?

Only joking, I think he's a decent lad and wouldn't wish dementia on him or anyone else for that matter. I saw it first hand with my mam, awful.

I had a head injury at 29 playing football. Had an embolism that caused brain damage, loss of vision & loss of memory for names, but not other things. Depression & other issues are also related.

56 now, still here. As many of you know I'm battling it. At the time the neurologist told me now't. Still had no answers.

**** it. I just try & enjoy every day. One day we'll all meet our maker. I'll have some questions with him about it.

PS the hair dye isn't working for me. Still looking like Paulie from the Sopranos. I have an issue with that.

I've felt bad watching him recently it was becoming all too apparent something wasn't right. Really glad he has been diagnosed so he can get whatever help he needs. His passion and enjoyment of the game is contagious. All the best Kammy.
