Chestnut Tree Barugh Green

Noticed that parking notices have gone up and a ticket machine (presently covered up) has been installed. Does anybody know what the plan is with this? Do you have to pay to park if you're going in the pub?

 

Maybe its to stop folk using the pub car park then going to aldi instead. Its only a theory but it would make sense, especially if you have the ticket refunded with your first purchase in the pub

 

They do a similar thing for the Dam Inn at Newmillerdam carpark, think they get sick of people using their carpark for the dam or in this case Chestnut Tree being sick of people using theirs as an overflow for Aldi.

 

It costs up to £4 for up-to 4 hours parking. Bottom portion of ticket should be taken to bar and it'll get knocked off ya bill. Free parking basically, just to stop people going to aldi and parking at Chezzy Tree.

 

Obviously now found out what a terrible idea it was - ticket machines have been taken out! The notices say tell the bar staff what your reg no. is but ours today wasn't intetested - says system hasn't started and it doesn't work. Happy days - revert to our pre-lunch bottle of sauvignon blanc now! ☺
