Would have been a lot more interesting if they had just lined them up in reverse points order, I.e Max and Lewis starting at the back and having 17 laps to scythe their way through as much of the grid as possible.

Lewis did an almighty lap yesterday in qualifying and it wasn’t even for pole, just “topping the qualifying”.

I’m not really keen on the sprint qualifying idea but I guess we’ll see how it goes today.

I can see why they are giving it a go, qualifying is very tidous these days. Though I think the whole sport is moving the wrong way, with the size of the cars and the degrading tyres making it so no one drives flat out.

I’m not going to lie, I don’t even know what the spring qualifying is, so I’ll be glued to the box this afternoon.

Just need to figure out how that ‘box’ is in view of a seat outdoors!

As far as I’m aware it’s 17 laps, starting in the order that they qualified yesterday. Only the top 3 score points (1st gets 3 points, 2nd gets 2 points and 3rd gets 1 point) and whatever position they finish is the order they’ll start tomorrow. Pretty sure I’ve got all that right anyway!

I’m not really sure on the idea myself but it’ll be interesting to see how the drivers approach it. I’m guessing if they crash out today they’ll probably start at the back tomorrow.

17 laps, 100km sounds a bit long. But I suppose it gives drivers time to settle? Potential carnage, hope not.

To be honest, I’m hoping for some carnage, particularly with some of the cars near the back “going for it”. If they can get a good start off the line and make their way through the field a bit, it could really benefit them tomorrow.

But yeah, more towards the front of the grid I think we’ll see some conservative driving.

I guess the hope is even though the teams will be urging caution, the drivers I the heat of the moment might just let the natural racer show.

It could be the most exciting or disastrous development in F1 for years. I’m watching on plus 1, after the Hollies film finishes.

Not sure it really worked. Apart from the start with Verstappen and the first lap with Alonso, it wasn’t as “racy” as what I’d hoped. Will be interesting to see it in Monza though where there can be more overtakes.

Moat races aren't as "racy" as we would hope sadly. Everyone seemed to be pushing so think it has potential for more trial.

That is very true however most races are much longer so there has to be some holding back. I was kind of hoping as it was much shorter, they would go for it a bit more. I guess the blistering of the tyres stopped that.

The tyres for me have become too much of a factor in F1. Race after race is just tyre management. A couple of laps following and a failed overtake is often the end of someone's race.

I didnt mind the format but agree with Toto that 5 or so laps would be better.
