Forest Green Rovers and Cheltenham. Ipswich. Charlton, Gillingham. Rotherham and Wednesday possibly going up. Donny down. Furthest set of away games in miles in our history?
Was just going to update it with FGR and Ipswich, there is some terrible journeys to look forward too. If fans are going to boycott oakwell next season and go to the away ones like some have said, then they better go the day before.
Nothing amazing about them slog fests. If Sunderland don't go up, imagine them on a Saturday and Exeter on a Tuesday, if we don't sign a decent squad and stick to youth, then them journey's will take there toll, and I doubt you'll be doing them all.
The Supporters’ Trust, with the FSA, have been speaking/working with the EFL about some of the ridiculous midweek away trips over the last couple of years. Hoping they see sense from next season for all clubs.
40 minutes for me going to be my nearest game. Will probably miss Plymouth but may well do Exeter unless it’s an evening kick off
Attending some of those away games is the only bright spot in following Barnsley that I can see. Have now been to 134 away grounds and have still to attend 11 to get the 92 in!! New ones for me at Cheltenham, FGR, Shrewsbury ( I was away on holiday before you ask!) and hopefully Sutton. Never seen the Reds at Exeter though I did see Exeter draw 0-0 with Walsall in a League Cup 1, first round first leg in 1991. It wasn’t very good though rather warmer than Oakwell I recall. The former Mrs Dalestyke wasn’t best pleased at breaking into our Devon holiday for that game; but that maybe one of the reasons why she is a former Mrs Dalestyke.
Yeah similar….. Oxford’s another relatively close one too. So is Swindon if they manage to somehow go up.
Good. Local away days are usually 12.30 kick offs, home fans only in most pubs, no proper day out to speak of. Give me an Exeter or a Cambridge over a Wednesday every time
Cambridge not too bad either and I’ve not been there, well I’ve been to Cambridge but not a football match there
Maybe the long distances will result in our pre pubescent moronic element reducing its presence next season. They would have to ask their mums for more pocket money.
Oh they’ll get there, somehow, with their polite behaviour letting the new kids from Forest Green know how hard they are, and what a shithole Nailsworth is, and they want to go home.
I'll doubt they'll even know they're in Nailsworth at all...... "Forest Green's a ************ I wanna go home....." but you aren't in Forest Green..... "Huh...."
