On the theme of weekend breaks, my wife and I have been looking at Seville at the end of March. Has anyone been before and is it worth it?

Also, any other recommendations for that time of year? We want somewhere that's reasonably warm, plenty of culture and/or scenery and not more than 2/2.5 hours flight. We're not massively adventurous so don't want anywhere too off the beaten track but want somewhere that isn't completely mainstream, ie, Rome, where we've been before and weren't keen. We much preferred Gdansk for example, but want somewhere warmer this time.

Valencia is excellent, plenty of cultural and imo Valencia fans are very passionate, Mestalla is like a smaller version of Camp Nou.

Cant comment on Sevilla cos not been but it does look like quite similar, plus they recorded game of thrones there.

Seville is beautiful, lots of history, cheap and good wine. Loved it. Would recommend.

Given my job, the metropole parasol blew me away.

Haha, I wish! Was having a beer with the missus at the weekend about how little we'd actually travelled in 2019 (mainly due to a kitchen extension which commenced in February)… hence why we tried to correct it with booking some places in early 2019.

Afraid I can't help with Seville, or anywhere in Spain or France.

I went to Seville a couple of years back. It was incredibly hot in early September - March should be comfortably warm.

Stay in the cathedral quarter, which is within a short walk of all the main attractions. The Alcazar is a must, and the Plaza de España is worth a visit. It’s a Venetian-style palace in the middle of the city park, and has been a setting for everything from Star Wars to Game of Thrones.

We stayed for 3 days / 2 nights and it was plenty enough to see everything.

Seville is superb. Always warm even in March. There are three World Heritage sites down by the cathedral which are all worth visiting The Jewish quarter has narrow lanes with lots of restaurants and it's very lively down by the river on a night. Two football teams in Sevilla and Real Betis if you want to take a match in. I'd highly recommend it, especially that time of the year when it should be around 21C, ideal for walking around

Closest I've come was being on Jim'll Fix It, asking for better eyesight.

Seville is lovely although we prefer Jerez. The cathedral is breathtaking, but we couldn’t help contrasting the extreme opulence inside with the beggars outside, many with limbs missing.

I went to Seville in August and it's a beautiful city well worth visiting, but I would also recommend Granada which is an amazing city with lots of history and the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains behind it which are brilliant to see. EasyJet flythere from Manchester.

I was there for a Uefa Cup final. 50,000 of us didn’t get tickets, so frequented the bars to watch the match. The city ran out of food and beer and the transport system collapsed meaning a 6 mile walk back to the campsite.
Other than that, I understand it’s very nice.

Beautiful place, you'll love it. Me and 2 others went in 2012, and whilst I can't comment on the history etc I can tell you that the nightlife was great.

The only downside was that one of the pals who came, Cal, is black and he had an awful lot of racist slurs shouted at him. That's another story though. You'll have an excellent time.
