British colonialism at it's finest. Got to meet George a few times DJing & he is a really lovely person. Such a sad story though. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0bcr8mm/who-do-you-think-you-are-series-15-4-boy-george
A fantastic, if somewhat harrowing watch, JP. Would have liked to hear something of his father's side of the family too.
My family roots are in Ireland and some of my relatives fought with the IRA years ago. Read a lot about the struggles and it makes for uncomfortable reading from a British point of view. I don't condone for one minute the bombings , especially during the 70's and 80's, but I can see and understand why they felt it necessary to fight back.
As they say, one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. Trying to understand the reason’s why is totally different from condoning/ supporting atrocities
To be quite honest,I wouldn’t so much as lift my arse up to fart for this country and in particular a Govt that leans so much to the right as this one does.
Those who are familiar with the causes and government decisions around the time of the potato famine will recognise the similarity in the Laisez-faire announcements of government ministers this week regarding stockpiling food, blood and medicine. Leaving things to the market and industry certainly worked well then.
