If anything I'm more pissed off and frustrated by our owners (both 80% and 20%) than I was before, because it just showed that with a little bit of more carefully targeted and better quality recruitment in the summer this season could have been so very different. If they'd gone in to the summer focused on trying to improve the squad with the focus being on on field success instead of maximising future transfer value, it's quite possible we would again be challenging at the other end of the table like we were last season. You've only to look at Luton and Coventry to see what could have been possible.

Do you think if Schopp had had Quina and Bassi he might still be in a job?

We will never know but to be honest I was including the head coach position in the better recruitment being needed.

Yeah I just think if he’d had this second transfer window and the same players brought in, we might have just as many points? Just a thought experiment.

I am greedy as I was imagining Quina with us last season playing with Dike, Woodrow and Mowatt.

If we were building season on season, that’s what we should be seeing. In the summer it may well have been possible to sign Quina on a permanent transfer. Obviously, I can’t imagine he has nay interest in joining us unless we stop up and show some kind of promotion form before the end of the season.

Nothing about the summer recruitment made any sense. We lost a young and raw striker, and brought in two 26 year old centre forwards and a 23 year old centre forward with over 100 first team appearances. We lost our most experienced midfielder and captain, and signed two inexperienced midfielders. As well as going into the season with 7 centre forwards (before you count Thompson, Marsh or even Odour who started the season in the front 3), and hired a coach who had generally played one up front in his previous jobs.

Just shambolic running of the club.

Our chances of ever signing Quina on a permanent deal are nil whether we stop up or not.
I imagine he'll be on at least 15k a week at Watford, although I think he is out of contract this summer.
If he carries on playing like he is then there'll be plenty of offers from other Championship clubs.

I wonder if oulare was a long term target or a knee jerk ‘crap - weve not signed anyone and hes on a free’. The awful recruitment close season is whats done us compounded with no pre season prep. Fitness been an issue all season. Lets hope we are coming into form at the right time.
