Re: Centre Back Adam Jackson About time. Gets a bit daft, especially when people create one purely for 'humour'.
Re: Signing imminent I have seen him play ninety minutes in at least one televised Hartlepool game last season. it must have been a cup-tie, but I can't remember against whom. I thought that he looked a really composed central defender, commanding in the air, reading the game well and distributing well out of defence. Of course, that was just one game, but the highlights package is also quite impressive as well. At 22, he is the sort of player you would expect us to be looking at - right age; proved himself, albeit at League Two level, but looking a class above; capped at international level at a range of age groups; not going anywhere with his current club - fits our bill just perfectly and I wouldn't think we have bust the considerable bank to get him either. Just needs Cole Kpekawa to get up the M1 and Morsy to get signed and that looks a pretty good strengthening exercise. Odd that no one seemed to have a hint about this one happening before it did.
Re: Signing imminent I love this type of signing. Very few, if any, of us know anything about the lad and no one knew about his transfer until the club announced it officially. Welcome to Oakwell, Adam, hope your stay is a successful one for both the club and yourself.
'Marra Please tell me more about this word. A bloke I see intermittently at work using it like most use 'mate' or 'bud' or 'pal'. Never heard anybody else say it.....til now!
As far as I know, its actually a Geordi word for mate ect... My old gaffer when I worked on the market used to say it, and I just kind of picked the habit up.
Thanks for clearing that up mate. I just thought the guy was weird. You don't work for Courier Logistics do u?
Re: Signing imminent Aye where is Keyboard Mourinho? For once I'd love to know what he thinks of this signing.
Nah mate, thats not me... In all honesty, outside Phil(mi old boss), only other folk ive heard say it are my mates, and the only person they say it to is me(...with it being "my" word, if that makes sense)...
It would be mate, as far as I know the signings will be jackson, kwekapa (however you spell it), morsey from wigan, Armstrong on loan from Newcastle and if we don't get ariyibi for under a million then we will go for isgrove
Yes it is Geordie ,term of endearment among pals. First heard it darnt pit by Geordie miners who moved down here in't sixties. Heard it a lot on picket lines during strike and at the Durham Miners Gala
Re: Signing imminent How many Adams are we going to have ......reminds me of a Tubes track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB-jLraSv3c
All sound like good business, but will be interesting to see who out of Jackson and the QPR Plate Spinner gets the first crack at partnering Roberts! And if Armstrong signs, thats 3 good goalscorers fighting for, at the most 2 spots. Going to be an interesting time to be a 'Tarn fan! Also, I hope we go for Issy rather than Ariyibi. After the role he played last season, we should always have a fondness for him!
Also used in Cumbria, in some parts Cumbrians have similar accents to Geordies. It was used by the lads who worked down the pit
I'd be very happy with that lot. Would be a shame not to get Isgrove back if he fancies coming here though. It'd give us a proper 'League 1 Allstars' striker lineup too.
