I reckon it's an age thing (no offence intended). Some of the things we do when we're younger, we just wouldn't contemplate in later life. Me and a mate went to a Rush concert in Stafford in our late teens. We booked the coach down, but gave no thought whatsoever to the return journey. It took us forever to get back, via a convoluted walk-train-train-walk-hitchhike-walk. We were starving by the time we got back. These days I'd spend a good few weeks planning it all out to the nth degree with train schedules, atlas, and Google. And I'd take enough food to feed an army!
