until the transfer window opens . Who is on our shopping list & who is in the departure lounge ? My first thought is that once Woodrow"s deal has been completed ,we can all breathe a sigh of relief . We all have our thoughts on what we need & I personally would like us to use the loan market to bring in the extra quality, which we would not be able to attract on permanent deals . Anyway , it makes for an interesting phase of the season , bring it on .

Seeing as we've several out of contract, and that we've only a handful of players that I think we could get decent money for (selling and reinvesting seems to be the assumed direction of this board, though the silence doesn't confirm that), so I suspect we'll lose at least one player who has reached his zenith.

Davies, Moncur, Jackson, Cavare and Hedges are all out of contract I the summer. I think i'd be looking to get Davies tied down to a year extension but probably start the search for a new keeper going forward.

I'd re-sign Jackson, see if we can cash in on Lindsay, and bring in a new centre half.

Cavare, I'd release and pay up his contract. I can't see how we'd get any money for him, so in our interests to get him out of the building and sign a good right back that's an instant first team starter and actually can be bothered to think about tracking back.

Hedges.... I'd probably see nearer end of the season but the fitness has to be an issue.

If we don't get rid of Lindsay, the only other players I can see anyone paying any decent money for are Potts and Moore. I think Potts maybe has a little scope to develop but at 26, I don't think Moores stock will rise any higher, so if we can get good money for him, I'd let him go. I think Woodrow has shown the difference in finishing. I'm sure many would be up in arms, but if we could get multi millions and invest some in a player with more awareness and composure, I'd take that, and I think we'd score more goals with less chances.

Same with Potts. I like the lad, but we've a very big lack of composure, and our decision making is largely poor. We've very rarely carved teams open (like Sunderland did to us) and most goals have come though our strikers, a huge reliance. So again if we can get money for him, I'd reinvest that money and try and find a captain that can shape this team. We're too nice and too meek, and as much as I like Potts, he's an epitome of that nice meekness.

Thiam, Moncur, McGeehan... I wouldn't miss any of them, and obviously I'd be keen to replace, particularly Thiam. I think he's better than last season, but the output just isn't what it should be. The same with Moncur. And I can't see how McGeehan forces out Dougall when he's fit again.

But overall I'd probably make no more than 4-5 changes to at least retain some stability and not be starting from scratch again.

There are times we look impressive, but its all a bit show pony and no work horse. I think the best teams can grind out results by attrition. I don't see that in any great amount in this team sadly.

I agree with a lot of what you say but my view would be that I would only like to maybe 2 or 3 additions & the same number of departures . I do not want to see two many changes as I think this could cause disruption & we need continuity as we go into the second half of the season . Obviously Mr Stendel & Mr Winkler have now had the time to fully asses all the players & will have a good idea of any reshaping of the squad , I only hope that the powers that be, put their trust in our coaches & do their best to support their wishes this january

Great comment by DannyWilsonLoveChild….Lets sign a player who is an instant first team starter....this should apply to every position or player that anyone wants to replace …
don't know about everyone else on here but over the years ive got fed up with us buying players to be told there not quite match fit or have a small niggle or need to be brought up to speed.....meanwhile we sell players to other clubs who leave on Monday and play on Saturday..
Also we often feel bullied by bigger clubs who offer more money and better prospects to nick our players but we don't do it to smaller clubs, maybe we should learn to be more ruthless...
