Can we get a bit of traction on this?

This NEEDS to be our crest from next season onwards. [IMG]

It’s very odd why this crest hasn’t really been used since the mid 80s.
Does anyone know where it came from and who designed it? I did hear years ago that the club couldn’t use it as Umbro had the rights, which makes sense as at the time the club was worse than skint and it disappeared when umbro was dropped.
When beaver was commissioned to supply the shirts the oakwell crest was replaced with the white rose, not sure how true that is.

If that's true, surely they wouldn't be requiring millions for us to buy it back off them? Besides, it has popped up on official club merchandise from time to time since we stopped using it on the shirts, so I'm assuming we have some right to use it.

No not for me it symbolises the stadium not the team, have it as a great badge on the stands( illuminated on the Ponty but not on the shirt and 100% not Toby or the White Rose which could be for any team in Yorkshire, love the club crest only other thing I’d personally entertain is B F C in the Port Vale style like we had before.

It's a bit of a weird one, in that this crest, is effectively for our current ground. It's not awful, but I find it very dated and twee.

I loved the toby tyke one back in the day in the with the black background and red and white type between rings. Never liked the council coat of arms either, again, looks dated and twee.

I think we missed a trick back when the crest options were put forward in Mansford's time. It's just a shame they were all really crap.

It was a design used by Barnsley Brewery on their advertising many years ago.
Edit ...forget that I may well be thinking of a different logo.

It would be good if it's used on one of the kits in the future but I don't agree with it needing to be our club crest moving forward.

What about a different crest on each shirt? Town Crest on home shirt. Oakwell badge on away shirt and Toby Tyke on third shirt. Alternate them each year to appease the dissenting masses.

Game of opinions. I personally dont care for the Oakwell crest but really like the toby one (which I know others hate)

It looks a bit naff IMO. It depicts a stadium that the club doesn't own. The current crest is fine by me.

It came from Oakwell Hall near Birstall.
