He has to go really, but that leaves Starmer in a delicate position. Trump - "Why did Mandy step down as Ambassador?" Kier- "Well he was best friends with a convicted paedo, can't trust him really" Trump - "Is that so?"
I'm interested as to what he knows about what's going to be revealed next. I guess he has some privileges and insight from his role. Interesting that his approach is so different from Trumps denials or Clintons head in the sand.
"Leaving you with some ‘interesting’ friends to entertain instead" "Very occasionally, taking you by surprise in some far off places … Or in one of his glorious homes he likes to share with his friends (yum yum)" That really doesn't read well now, Mandy.
Because the alternatives are so much worse. That said Mandelson should fall on his metaphorical sword now.
Jesus Christ I hadn't realised the photos with his birthday letter were of him on Epstein Island. If the note was written in 2003 there is a decent chance the photos were taken when he was part of the UK government
Starmer happy to see Rayner out, but using his rapidly dwindling political capital to back Mandelson is just good common sense centrist politics.
I genuinely don't understand how people can do that and stay friends with someone like that but many people who I would have ordinarily expected to have made a wiser decision on here remained friends with Chris corke when he was convicted of being a paedophile so I guess it does happen
Mandelson’s position is untenable, there is absolutely no way he can remain in post now. There is more to come out about his relationship with Epstein that is bound to be very damaging.
I vote for an alternative. I certainly couldn’t vote for a party who has the best friend of a dead non*e as its US ambassador, a party that arms, aids and abets a genocide and demonises people looking for asylum in some stupid attempt to curry favour with right wing Neanderthals.
I'm rapidly forming the opinion a high proportion of politicians are either corrupt at worst, or just in it to help themselves at best. The party name isn't even relevant anymore, there all at it.
Your perception is understandable but I still have faith that the majority of politicians aren’t it for themselves.
Wish he'd resign or work for a leader with the balls to sack him. "More embarrassing stories to come about me ....." FFS man have some dignity and respect for the electorate. Last thing I want to hear is "more embarrassing stories" followed by the inevitable Little Britain sketch-style "error of judgement" "ask forgiveness" statements.
There are some very principled politicians on the Labour backbenches that won’t be happy with the Government’s performance to date. If Starmer and McSweeney don’t start to embrace traditional Labour values and continue on their current trajectory, I predict there’ll come a tipping point and a full scale rebellion from the benches.
I’ve seen the yum yum multiple times now and it genuinely makes me gip every time I see it. Disgusting. Absolutely vile.
