That's the worry P. One year left on his contract and it's hard to see us convincing him (and his agent) to extend. We either sell this summer or he runs his contract down, which we can ill afford to happen.
Friendlies, WC qualifiers and a major tournament. His summer is that busy he will be knackered for our first game.
My thoughts on JR, l think he’s still learning the game and there is a very good player in there, unfortunately you cannot coach speed but saying that l wouldn’t like to play against him, l don’t even know how old he is but I feel that He could improve even more……… if given time.
Jon's got quite a large dog, but he does have a small cat. I wonder if his celebration is in homage to that instead.
Another international goal for Jon Russell. The 2nd in a 2-0 win vs Trinidad, who are their biggest threat in getting out of the group for World Cup qualification.
We were probably asking for too much cash for a proven goalscorer we've turned in to a bench warmer bit part player.
He also got an assist last Friday in the 4-0 win against Bermuda. I think he's got 5 goals in 12 games now for Jamaica. I'm not sure how many assists. It seems really strange that he can't get into the starting eleven of a League One team and is a reflection of the strength of our midfield. Surely it's worth experimenting with him as a striker, if we can't fit him into our midfield. He's a classy player with an eye for goal.
He's in with a very good chance of playing at the World Cup finals next summer. Who was the last current Barnsley player to do that? Or has there ever been one? Tinkler perhaps at France '98? Although he wouldn't have played for us yet I don't remember if we signed him before or during the tournament?
