Am really warming to the guy. He's trying really hard to get the Greens noticed and listened to. He even went onto the streets of Clacton today (or yesterday) and tried to engage with people on the streets. He's having a real go. Good man. The only comeback the media seem to have is hypnotherapy and breast enlargement from 12/13 years ago. His narrative is good and he's got bottle.
I'm definitely warming to his attitude and approach. I think we're finally starting to see the left fight back on the brazen bullsh*t we're seen from the right for the last decade or so. He has risen from a guy noone had heard of to someone being talked about nationally in about a week. And sections of the right wing media are losing their minds over him and giving him even more exposure. The Trump philosophy in action: "It doesn't matter if they hate you if they all say your name."
Trouble is the guy seems to be trying to do it all in his own at the moment. Is there no one else from the Greens who can help out? The chap is gonna be burnt out
Where would Reform be without Farage? A main character is the key ingredient these days. But there are a number of excellent people working in councils across the country who will inevitably rise. Andrew Stringer was my local councillor for years and he's absolutely brilliant.
I would think he picked up quite a few enquiries for his breast enhancement business while he was in Essex.
He wants to withdraw from NATO and form new international alliances that can't be dismantled so easily by the likes of Trump.
Can I also add that there is no evidence to suggest his economic ideas are stupid. We are in a fiat economy so the government can effectively do what they like with money. We are not tied to the gold standard anymore. As soon as people start realising that governments can be incredibly flexible with the economy and that it isn't run like a household budget the better. Yet again a crap inheritance from the Thatcher years that has been allowed to run. Also, I believe he wishes to reform NATO if my reading is correct. I'll take a hit on that though if I'm wrong. If you are progressive by nature I suggest you get behind him rather than throw in your lot with Tories, LibDems or Labour. They all sing from the same hymn sheet and have no ammunition against Farage. Polanski does. Back the guy.
His (official Green Party) policy used to be reform of NATO but the continued madness of Trump has convinced him that NATO is now effectively dead. I've heard this argument from some European military commentators. It has already been happening within European NATO countries this year, ie moving to a position of independence from the USA (Starmer's "Coalition of the Willing"). Whether NATO is "reformed" by the USA effectively withdrawing (which seems very likely) or European countries withdraw and replace it with Europe-based alliances makes little difference. Edit; Although I'm a member, I didn't vote in the leadership election, I didn't feel that I knew enough about the candidates. However, I was impressed with Zack when I'd seen him and I never like the dual leader nonsense so was leaning towards him. 85% seems to me a decent margin to win a leadership election so I'll go with that.
Would we not be absolutely knackered without America? It probably is one of the very few things I agreed with trump on. No reason every country in it shouldn't have been paying their agreed upon 2%
I've always wondered how the billions of dollars USA receives from NATO members for the supply of arms, compares to the 2% of GDP figure. And of course, if they'd miss the money if NATO folds.
Not sure if this is related, but I listened to his latest interview and my breasts have gotten twice as big.
The markets brought down the last PM to try this fantasy economics and they will bring down the next. Real world solutions are what's required (in my view).
This is one of the problems, since 2000 some NATO Member States haven't spent anywhere near the 2%, and consequently very little on new weapons, whether from America or elsewhere.
I get the impression it has more to do with Trump opposing NATO ever taking any actions, rendering the whole thing pointless..eg the US pro Israel stance blocking any action on Palestine or the middle east in general
Possibly mate. I know trump has been banging on about it since 2017 though. As I said one of the few things I agreed with him on, especially considering how reliant most countries in nato are on the US. Its a shame they're as powerful and needed as they are, otherwise perhaps we'd have more influence over Israel. Albeit, its Israel what somehow seems to have influence over God knows how many countries, especially the so called elite countries. I say 'somehow', and what I mean by that is money...
I'll just say again that once people stop assuming that government control of the economy is just like a household budget we'll start making progress. Polanski does not have the same mindset as Liz Truss with her massive tax cuts for the rich - he simply doesn't. His approach is completely different and is not based on failed neo-liberal thinking. There needs to be a new mindset about wealth, tax, investment and societal spending power instead of the austerity and trickle down ******** that has and still is ruining the economy and peoples' lives.
