Not sure you'll find much. She had to go - it's very naive at best from her and whilst I have issues with this Labour government I will give them credit for dealing with this within a couple of days. I expected them to try and weather it to disastrous effect, and it's good to see they hold themselves to higher standards than previous governments.
Oh my word. David Lammy appointed as deputy PM. Never stops to be entertaining does the only way is Westminster.
It’ll depend if she’s morally bankrupt and what she did was actually illegal or if it’s she’s just morally bankrupt but it was a legal loophole, I suspect. I haven’t looked into the details admittedly to know which it likely was.
Is it deflection? Or is it highlighting his hypocrisy in sticking the boot into Rayner despite his own arrangements? I'd say that's a very legitimate point.
Or is it seeking consistency? Surely Farage shouldn't be dodging tax? You can't call out one but ignore others. Obviously Farages tax affairs won't be brought up anywhere else given the pandering to the far right.
Would that be the Farage who’s in a foreign country actively campaigning against the UK and asking a foreign nation to sanction us while being a sitting MP? Just so i know we’re talking about the same one
Yep people get confused with working class. The bone idle work shy aren't working class and neither are politicians who are buying 800k houses.
I think she's legally bang to rights and will have to pay it. And even if not she'll probably pay it in order to salvage her political career. The morality question is whether she was just naive in not taking specialist advice thinking she was in the right, or thought "**** it ill probably never get caught" But even in the best case that level of naivete isn't a good look for a senior minister and she had to go.
She's already highlighted her error to HMRC. Given she's admitted it to them, I'll guess she'll pat the extra possible with a nominal interest contribution. The standards commissioner has evidence of documentation that suggest she didn't get follow up advice, though the vague suggestion from a conveyancer was she should be ok, but seek more advice.
Shabana Mahmood taking over home secretary from Cooper could end up being a minor positive out of this absolute **** show. She is pressing for a reform of ECHR, article 8, which is one of the main justifications others are using for abandoning it completely.
I've always been impressed when I've seen her speak, granted not often. I must say though, given the increasing racism being whipped up, I'm deeply worried for what she might be letting herself in for.
I doubt that's in the text of any agreement to be honest. It's a bit like saying what do you think of Rachel Reeves removing winter fuel payments from pensioners so they can freeze to death and die.
