The number of Hotels might have, although I doubt it, but not in numbers of people housed in them, several people have said this but it's untrue... I'm not blaming Starmer though, but the numbers have gone up from c29k to c32k.

But on the key issues of ethnicity that I had asked her to examine, she has found continued failure to gather proper robust national data, despite concerns being raised going back very many years. In the local data that the audit examined from 3 police forces they identify clear evidence of over-representation among suspects of Asian and Pakistani-heritage men. And she refers to “examples of organisations avoiding the topic altogether for fear of appearing racist or raising community tensions”.

 

So let’s say that’s true, it clearly states “going back many years”. Why weren’t we painting flags on roundabouts 5 years ago? Why is it only now that people have “had enough” and need to “protect our children” and “take our country back”?
I’ve got my own opinion, but would be interested to know what yours is?

 

Well, the thing with a cover up is that they are kept out of the public eye, so people aren't aware of them, otherwise it wouldn't be much of a cover up would it? My point was not about the protests being linked to grooming gangs, but to refute the earlier assertion that perhaps people of an ethnic background are systematically persecuted by the Police thus skewing crime figures, and the grooming gang cover ups is evidence to the exact contrary.

 

Sorry, are you suggesting no one was aware of the highly publicised grooming gang scandal while the previous government was in power?

I was in Leicester the other month watching the Lionessess and there was a Jamaican family in the row in front of me slap bang in the middle behind the goal with a huge flag.
They were clearly English raised (accent) and having a one family party dancing and singing throughout.
Best part was how welcome they were made to feel by the English fans around them not one sign of rascism.

 

And a lot of those who survived helped rebuild this Country after that war, conveniently forgotten by the rascists.

 

Well perhaps I am misunderstanding those who say that it is. What’s your understanding of the meaning of the current flag campaign? Why are people doing it?

 

There are a number of reasons that we have this outbreak of flag flying: flags were up for the England woman's team success in the Euros and for the V.E day celebrations and have remained up. People were not happy with the girl being sent home from school for wanting to celebrate British culture, people are not happy with being told to take down said flags, despite, for example in Birmingham Palestine flags being left up for 2 years and the council being scared to touch them and therefore putting up more and more as a form of protest. People not being happy with uncontrolled illegal immigration, people on the far-right using it as a way to create division and intimidation, with the hope that they will be taken down to show a 2-tier system, where some flags are allowed but not the flag of the country, etc.
Like many things, some people will have genuine intentions and others will be out to cause mischief, I've always stood by my belief that its best to avoid crowds marching/protesting with flags or other symbols thereof as most likely they're not helping anyone and any message is lost in the reductive slogan chanting, "no doubt can exist in the herd" as Carl Jung said:

- in summary. Personally, the Union Jack has too close an association with Empire and all its problems, I don't like it and I don't want to see it flown anywhere, I wouldn't ban it but we need a new flag for Great Britain IMHO. With the St George's cross, I do think that ceding it to the far-right is bad idea and if it was properly appropriated for the good things like the sporting stuff and not abandoned as a symbol of the right then they would lose, but actively trying to remove it or denigrate it is counter-productive and plays into their hands.
