I was doing my post match browse and saw the thread which led me to the video of those two racist morons. The woman at one point said she had been a nurse and" I would have been senior to you.."FFS!! IMO, this 'One in One out' policy could be vastly improved if the 'one out' element could someone incorporate morons like those two. I wonder how they would cope with being two white migrants in a foreign country like Somalia??
Meanwhile in Manchester...... https://manchestermill.co.uk/manchester-flags-lee-twamley-salford-smuggler/
We went to see the inlaws at the weekend. Every bridge on the A2 had flags and when we got onto side roads, we saw multiple instances of red spray paint vandalism. Saw nothing driving out of London though. I suspect I'll hugely miss multiculturalism and accepted diversity once I leave London's orbit.
Interesting to see many of the left-leaning politicians and posters on here repeating exactly what they did during Brexit and resorting to academic snobbery and sneering at the divvies painting Danish flags on roundabouts. I mean, why would you engage with the valid concerns around the demographic make-up of those entering the country, the massive financial burden of housing them and the genuine safety concerns of 200 mainly young men being housed near secondary schools and the resultant sexual assault cases when you can laugh at a gap toothed gimp flying the Union Jack upside down. After all, we didnt bother with the genuine constitutional issues surrounding EU lawmaking because it was easier to take the piss out of Johnson's fûckwitted slogan on a bus, and that went really well for all concerned. We ended up with him as PM - well played everyone. The flags thing is ridiculous. But using it to gloss over an escalating situation to pretend that there's no issue - well, honestly, that's just as stupid. Yet another example of this ridiculous left/right culture war ****** where both sides are completely entrenched and believe there are no shades of grey. Brexit, Covid and now this. Nuance exists.
No one pretends there aren't issues, but as soon as we give credence to people's behaviour which involves mobilising themselves behind a flag to remove immigrants from our country, it's not just a culture war. It's blatant racism/nationalism. And once we can't laugh about it, and enough people start listening to this rhetoric with nothing from the other side, that's when we are really in trouble.
London is a $hithole and total write off. If that's what multiculturalism is then they can keep it....... I'm guessing you won't be moving to London tho
I've lived in London for nearly 20 years. I'll be very sad to leave. Can you elaborate why you have those feelings about London?
One thing that annoys me is the lack of accurate reporting in the media. The article above quotes a people saying the asylum problem is getting worse under Starmer when the exact opposite is true. The number of hotels housing asylum seakers has halved under Starmer for example. I’ve nothing against flying the flag. I do have a problem with vandalism and defacing others property though especially as those doing it are doing it for less than the best intentions
I wouldn’t live in London if you paid me…….no one smiles, no one talks to each other and the beer is absolutely ****!! GIVE ME BARNSLEY EVERYDAY OF THE WEEK!!!
Where did you get that idea from. Right wing shrills living in Dubai or from personal experience because it’s just not true.
I love London and I really enjoyed my time working there. I spent 10 years working in London and never ever felt threatened or unsafe at any time. Admittedly some areas could do with massive investment, but the same could be said for any other area in the UK.
We should be able to take legitimate concerns seriously, without condoning outright hate, bigotry, racism, fuelled by wilful disinformation. The biggest issues in this country are not caused by people crossing the channel in dinghies. They're caused by systemic greed, negligence and underfunding by the people in charge. It makes me sad to think that the most vulnerable in all this, genuinely believe Reform are working for them. In 5-10-15-20 years they will still be no further forward, while Farage et al are sloshing imported pints in the Caymans.
