Another good report Andy, but I also think we tried to sit back too much in the second half. We didn’t have to go hell for leather to beat them, we had done that with our first half performance, but the fekin about with the back in our half could cost us. We should have pressed more instead of passing across and back thinking the gage was safe. Connell is great at times, and very bloody dangerous for us at times. He should have led better in the second half and got us attacking against 10 men remember, we should have put it to bed much easier than we did. As in the past we took our foot off it and the top heart from that. We should never allow that. overall I did think we were excellent, a shame we didn’t put 5 past them.
Tennai Watson......outstanding. The rest of em, not far behind. Keep this group together, add a couple of additions and we've a serious chance of promotion. Next couple of days are pivotal as to where our season pans out.
Watson, Earl, Shep all very good. Rest good. Would have had Ogbeta as very good too had he not looked to play backwards so much - I appreciate the comment about not playing suicidal stuff, but so many times Vickers or McG were ready for the pass but it went back. A minor criticism. And for me a special word for Kelly. Looks a right player. Perfect balance, low centre of gravity and an ability to run with the ball and keep it, at speed, even when it's bouncing all over the place. Looks to have an engine on him too.
Agree and disagree mate, Bland going to be a great player but I didn’t think today was his best day, he was ok but a 6/10 for me. After he made a long run in first half he looked very leggy getting back imo, not criticising at all btw but I think Connell was main man today in that sitting midfielder role, Connell and Bland will be good together but won’t happen overnight and more they play alongside each other better they will get. We are very strong in midfield area this season, onwards and upwards!
I thought Bland was absolutely immense. Tremendous performance. If he's that assured at 19 against one of the best teams in League One then he's pretty close to a certainty to play in the Premier League.
Opinions mate, he his going to be a great player I don’t disagree, just thought he was 6/10 today and like I said Connell was the star in midfield today imo.
Because he made it perfectly clear at times when he was here that he didnt want to be. Plus i think its quite immoral how he's obviously faked his birth certificate as it's very clear he's 47 years old.
I think it’s worth mentioning about Ogbeta’s error - his Captain was also signalling with his hand to pass it back to the keeper too. You can see it on the video highlights. Goes to show, always check yourself before listening to others…..
Booing because when he scored against us last season he celebrated too much, not many ex players do,i wasn't booing by the way.
Great performance. After 11 times of asking, my missus has seen us finally win a game at Oakwell! I’m split on MOTM between Shep/Luca. Like Andy Mac said, ogbeta was brilliant too just a big shame about his calamitous mistake for their goal. A clean sheet would’ve been perfect. We are in for a really interesting season as it stands. Yes, we may need a ST/CB in for depth but if we get lucky with injuries then I’d be happy with this squad, when we have Gent/Jalo/Roberts to come back also. Soon as game finished I rang two of my good mates who are Hudders fans, both of the calls went to voicemail. Both of them got a 30 second voicemail of me obnoxiously laughing. You reds!
I don’t remember him scoring against us, never mind celebrating. And I’m one of those who prefers a player to celebrate, regardless of history. They’re representing that club. “Oooo, he scored against us but isn’t celebrating look…” Woke nonsense.
As a Reds fan? None. But there were plenty of free kicks given to us that weren’t fouls. Shepherd and Connell the main ‘winners’ in conning the ref by falling over when about to lose the ball. It’s great sh*thousery from us. I love it. But we’ve seen it on here time after time, referees getting hammer when we are the team losing and opponents are dropping under the slightest pressure.
I think Neil fluffed his lines every time, but his efforts got us upfield and in the ascendancy. I don’t mind him at that end of the pitch. But a defender he is not. Tell you something, but whisper it quietly - he’s not been injured for a few weeks either.
For me Connel an 8, Farugia, still won a raffle. My MOTM, Shep. However, that first half was the best I've seen in a long, long time. COYR.
