Is that the evening standard, owned by 'Lord' Lebvedev? Worth reading up on him and his very dubious relationship with the person who got him his peerage. Another example of the rightwing press targeting someone who has done nothing wrong. I don't see them doing stories about Farage earning large amounts yet failing to do his constituency duties. Or Geoffrey Cox who earns around £1m a year from external legal work, often overseas so he can't even undertake his voting duties. And it would cost a hell of a lot more to have her rent somewhere centrally, but that's not the point is it?
Do you think he's a Daily Mail hack? Poor grammar and spelling, complete lack of balance and context, follows dodgy socials, irrational loathing of fact... It all fits!
If the real accusation is hypocrisy because Labour represent the "Working Class" and therefore she should be in a 2 bedroom council property to show solidarity with the masses I'm afraid we're all up the creek. Most of us own Property/ Cars etc of considerable value..but vote Labour.
She has me blocked on twitter and I often scratch my head about it as I've never interacted with her. I'm also blocked by Stan Collymore. I probably called him a wifebeater whilst intoxicated if I'm honest.
That would likely be a wasted vote. Mr Corbyn is going to be 75 before the next general election and would be 80 by the end of that term. His deputy is a Muslim woman who is just as easy for the media to smear as he was. They need a younger leader who isn't from a religion that a lot of the media don't like.
No, we really need the left to all come together. Very unlikely, admittedly. But if all the stubborn characters continue to be stubborn and not realise that the left needs a wide range of different views, then their stubbornness is going to allow the country to be damaged beyond repair by a leader who’s entire intentions are to make himself and his friends very rich and **** the rest of us.
I don't see that Labour uniting with the Sultanas is suddenly going to result in an offering with massive electoral appeal. I think the only way Labour wins again is if people begin to feel better off in their pockets. In that regard, they are facing the same problems that beset the Tories, namely low growth and productivity in the wake of financial crash aftermath/pandemic/war in Europe. It hardly helps that the government is being thwarted in it's attempts to reduce high spending in some areas. The triple lock should go (in favour of CPI-linking only) as should the WFA, but it would take cross-party agreement (including Reform) to achieve that and still have a chance of re-election. The welfare budget needs to be contained and younger claimants assisted/encouraged into work. Four years to go though, so let's see what happens.
We don’t pay them to be stubborn though do we, we pay them to get on with their jobs for the good of their constituency and for the country as a whole. I couldn’t give a round shiny ***** what they like or don’t like as long as they perform those 2 roles to the best of their ability otherwise we’re wasting our hard earned money paying them at all.
If you’re quoting Ferrari and LBC we know you’re struggling. He’s a lovely person of the highest order: “In 2003, the Broadcasting Standards Commission upheld a complaint against Ferrari, finding that his programme's "active reinforcement of prejudiced views about asylum seekers had exceeded acceptable boundaries for transmission" “In 2015, Ferrari was investigated by Ofcom after he said on his radio programme that the November 2015 Paris attacks were "a Muslim problem" and told a Muslim caller to "go some place else" if the caller did not agree with UK foreign policy.” And my personal favourite “A friend of The Sun's former editor Kelvin MacKenzie”
I know that people on here will excuse Labour politicians a lot that they wouldn't excuse if the colour of the rosette was different. People can make comments about Nick Ferrari and throw other "whataboutisms" around. But it doesn't alter the fact that it's not a good look. If reports are correct, she appears to have taken her name off the deeds of a house in Manchester that she clearly still lives in and still pays council tax for, in order to say that the flat in Brighton is not a second home, thus saving £40k, even though she has declared to Brighton council that it is indeed a second home. She is entitled to buy as many houses as she wants, as is everyone else. No issue with that, and it would be hypocritical of me to suggest otherwise as I have 2 myself. There is nothing at all illegal about what she has done, but from a tax perspective, when Labour are piling on the costs for everyone else, it smells badly of "do as I say, not as I do". Like I say, really not a good look.
I don't know for certain, but it might be because she separated from her partner and they've taken ownership of that house. And if her name isn't on the deeds then she no longer owns it. So we're now in a position that from the 3 homes she was accused of owning, she now only owns one like most of us.
