The drive over the M62 was truly unforgettable. I finished work early in Cambridge, picked my dad up from Bolton on Dearne and headed straight for Liverpool. Missed the kick-off. I say we missed the kick-off, we got in the ground about 10 minutes into the 2nd half. What a night.

Went on the special. Long escorted walk to Anfield, freezing weather, scallies picking off stragglers and bricks being chucked from tower blocks. Reight night out.

Went on a bus from hemsworth got there well after halftime could not find bus after game just got on any bus.
You would think with 17000 reds there you would be safe but it was horrible after game.

I didn't personally see any trouble but the papers were full of it the next day. A sad end to a memorable night in BFC history.

I didn’t go, and I didn’t go to the replay. Your brother in law at the time, Rob, said you were sorting the tickets for the replay. In reality you probably knew nowt about it :D

Went with Woolley Colliery - got there at half time. We were one of the last buses to arrive and were right at the end of the line of coaches. Remember being confronted by a gang of Liverpool fans as we were about to leave after the game- they changed their mind when 40 of the NCB's finest left the coach. The thud of snowballs and bricks back to the M62 along Queens Drive was my overriding memory of the journey back. The replay had a very hostile atmosphere after the knife attack on our fans that night

Drove over with a mate who'd studied at Liverpool Uni and new the best places to park. Had the afternoon off work so got there in plenty of time. Hit fog on the M62 soon after it had been cleared of crashed cars which were on the hard shoulder. It was like driving through a scrap yard. We were some of the few who were there for the kick off.

I see in the comments on the link a Liverpool fan is trying to play down the numbers and the bother, claiming that there wasn’t any trouble at the replay.

I didn’t go to that game or replay, but there was still bad feeling when we lost 4-0 in the cup, and also a lot of arrests after the Willard game. I was parked at the station and it was nasty down there.

    Right

I got up in morning at half past ten at night, half an hour before I went to bed
I ate a lump of freezing cold poison
I worked 28 hours darn pit and had to pay pit owner to let me work there
I got home and then our dad murdered me in cold blood and danced about on my grave singing hallelujah
And then I crawled to Liverpool over burning hot gravel
I got there 3 months after match had finished
And it's best game I've ever been to

We got there early and I got a good hiding outside Anfield, bad cut above my right eye, ribs bruised and my Harrington jacket slashed from collar to waistband, lovely evening.

Agree - the feeling was still there at both those games. My boss who is a Liverpool season ticket holder was in the away end and he says it was one of the most toxic experiences he's encountered as a Liverpool fan. I remember their fans being bricked at the train station as they walked across the footbridge

We went with the White Bear at Wath and got there for the last half hour. Scousers who weren't even at the game were lobbing bottles at us from outside a pub behind the Kop as we walked to the away end. Our coach was parked on a terraced street and after the game it was attacked by kids appearing from side streets. Someone threw a section of garden fence and it hit the window where I was sat. The bus emptied and chased them off..

Went with Barugh Green club ,got in just after kick off.
Great night ,apart from the 30 youngsters with balaclavas on ,attacking us outside the bus.
We gave as good as we got .
Only time in 50 years I threw a punch at a football game.
Not proud of it, but it was survival.
Different ball game in the FA cup ,Liverpool fans shaking our hands not our throats .

We walked into the station after the Willard game, and there was a stand off. Barnsley lads were eyeing up everyone walking in, and Liverpool fans were quickly getting on the train, with a line of police keeping the peace. Some young scousers were being brave in the presence of the bobbies, but it would have been carnage had they not been there.
