I'd love a campaign where non-christian faiths all agree to fly the flag outside their places of worship as a symbol of how proud they are of England's welcoming and multicultural nature. Watch the Facebook flag nonces' heads explode as they try to express why they aren't happy with it without going full mask off racist.

Celebrate what's good about the country and rob the flag of its power as a racist dog whistle.

Well I’m born and bred in this country, never lived abroad (that’s not a dig at those that are, and have) Pay taxes via PAYE, VAT on purchases etc, etc, The vast majority of my spending is locally and nationally.I donate regularly to local and National charities, In my view I couldn’t be more patriotic. I don’t feel the need to fly a flag and/or point fingers at others. Oh, and along with thousands of others, a Prime Minister said I was ‘The enemy within’

Seems like flags are a major source of controversy - sadly. Even in Barcelona where the flag of Catalonia outweighs the flags of Espana.

Growing up in the 1950s I only remember seeing a flag on the town hall. It wasn’t until the world cups and euros of the 1990s when St. George’s flags were at games, bedroom windows and those stalks on car windows. But, it was only during the tournaments. The real proliferation started with Brexit which fuelled Europe xenophobia. The current hysteria of anti-immigration flag waving is not patriotism it is jingoism.

Yep, saw one on a bridge over a dual carriageway near Sleaford yesterday. However as there's so little to do in Sleaford, hanging flags off bridges is probably quite a reasonable form of entertainment there.

The flag means nothing to me, ok at international football matches etc and maybe on official buildings - alongside others like the EU and Rainbow flags for example. People randomly putting them up in their gardens worries me slightly and the current fad for putting them every where worries me a lot.

No I wouldn't die for a flag. I would (if I weren't 69 years old) be prepared to fight for my country in an existential crisis. I can only see 2 existential threats to this country just now, one is the orange 2hat in Washington and the other is Fartage and his proto-nazi party - I am prepared to fight these in any way I can.
