Barnsley Football Club can confirm that our Sky Bet League One fixture against Stevenage next month has been postponed due to international call-ups in both squads.

The Reds' trip to the Lamex Stadium will now be rescheduled, with ticketing details and the rearranged date to be communicated to supporters at the earliest opportunity.

Irritating. That is one I would definitely have made but won't be able to do a rescheduled Tuesday night.

Same here; nearly booked train tickets but then remembered losing money after the icy pitch fiasco so didn’t as knew it would be called off.

Good that they've made the announcement early, avoids the guesswork

Potentially Russell Yoganathan Bland Barratt and Kelly.

Absurd that any club can call off a match in those circumstances. They've all got enough professional players to make a match day squad but, as always, it's never mind the fans who have already made arrangements to travel etc. They don't want to lose a couple of players to call ups but, of course, if they were injured or suspended, the club would just crack on. It's a ridiculous rule that needs scrapping, especially at 3rd and 4th Division level.

Agree to a certain extent but crikey, if you took Yoganathan, Russell, Bland and Kelly out of our squad I wouldn’t fancy our chances. Doubt we’d fill the bench! We definitely needed it calling off.

They might not have been announced publicly yet, but players might have been informed that they're going to be called up.

I know it's a while ago, but David Bentley said on Undr the Cosh that he'd been made aware of his first England call up before Steve Mclaren had given him the call. Which led to Robbie Savage playing a prank on him, pretending to be Steve Mclaren.

One of my heroes back in day. He had it all. Just wanted the rest too soon. Supported his decision to retire from disillusionment. Had it myself playing cricket.

Oh I think we'd manage, as would Stevenage. I'd rather everyone played that weekend :)

****! Booked the train tickets last week. And as it's likely to now be a week night it will be a bugger to change them as the Saturday trip to Stevenage doesn't necessitate a trip to London any more, but a mid week game probably does.

That's very mildly annoying. I'd arranged to meet my cousin, whose had a rough time of it lately, at this one. Doubt he'll be able to make the inevitable Tuesday night fixture, unless both us and Stevenage both exit the FA Cup at the first hurdle and its arranged for the 2nd round day.

I know the club have to go with what they believe gives us the best chance of winning the game, but it's still pretty inconsiderate.

Could you still go to Stevenage for day out?
