Its ok loaning out forwards but we aint got any if mcgoldrick gets injured or tired we are ******. Cleary and jalo are wingers / inside forwards. Dkd is not an out and out striker. Its concerning we are doung very well and not fancied 2 get top 6. Sort it mladen.
I’ve got some stick everytime I say it but we finish 15th with this squad this season. Hourihane has a good XI to choose from but the rest meh. We’ll hit numerous bad spells with this squad unless we recruit at least another couple.
Certainly isnt the case. Im sure we are all delighted. Just worried about lack of options in final 3rd. Injuries and suspensions kick in we dont have enough backup
On Tuesday we brought on Russell, Bland and Cleary. We also had Yoganathan suspended who had started the previous three league games. I think we need another striker, and another centre half, but in some positions we have a lot of choice. Conor hasn't once selected a team that I think is our best 11. And I've seen plenty of others choose their 11 which differs to the one selected. I'm not claiming any of us know better, but it illustrates there's lots of options.
I think it's quite clear we're after a couple. All of the rumours linking us to players are either another winger or centre forward. We play with 1 central striker and have 3 senior players who can play there, so whilst it is an area we definitely need to strengthen, it's a secondary priority to a centre half for me, which is the only area of the pitch where we're really lacking depth.
Watch/read Conor's interviews, he knows. At least you've got your 'i told you so' post prepped and ready though, so well done
Not prepped any response. Like everyone just enjoying the ride and hope we can challenge for top 6. Be good to get another striker in.
Cooper; Watson, Roberts, Shepherd, Ogbeta; Connell, Kelly; Vickers, Phillips, McGoldrick, DKD. Flavell; Bland, de Gevigney, Earl, Gent; Russell, Yoganathan; Cleary, NEW, NEW, Jalo. Two elevens there. It’s obvious that the forward positions are lacking depth. You could stick Farrell, Alker or Gould (academy kids) in there for now. But for me, that’s where we need to add before the window closes. Ideally, someone who could hold the ball, link play, be more of a focal point, and then another youngster who can play all across that front four. I assume Ballard would be the latter, if we were to get it done.
I hope MDG is fit enough to start today, and I not his biggest fan but he his definitely a better option than playing 2 left footers in Earl and Shepherd.
Based on what we've brought in thus far I'm sure Conor is all over it, he knows what we need and I've faith we'll get the right bodies in, before the window closes, or is it slams shut
How's that ,we were in top 6 till Christmas last season ,we have added some good additions . Why can't we acheive a top 6 with this squad ,if we can add a centre half plus support striker
It's a fair ask, but I suspect every club in the 92 are saying exactly the same thing. From Liverpool (Isak) down. Year after year, every manager grumbles that they are three players short of a full squad. And if they sign three players in the window, they'll still be three players short as sure as eggs is eggs. If this is the hand we've been dealt, it's proven to be reasonably robust so far.
